omg this is so funny...

So I check my FH's email for him as he does not work ANYWHERE near a computer and hardly uses it to begin with...

Last week, Peter, our pre cana instructor asked me for his email address to clarify one of his FOCCUS questions...

here is the email I read this morning:

Eric,

I look forward to meeting with you and Caroline for your FOCCUS review this Tuesday evening.

I was hoping you could help me out with one of your answers...

Based on my past experience meeting with couples, I can better guide the discussion if I understand beforehand what is meant by certain answers (or if the answers were mistaken, which happens quite frequently).

You had written 'Agree' to the statement: 'I am concerned that homosexual feelings or behaviors could have a negative effect on our marital relationship.'

This has come up in the past, and has meant all kinds of different things, and several times the answer was a matter of the wrong button being clicked.

In any event, if you can give me a little guidance on how to approach this issue, or just skip over it, that would be very helpful to me.

hahahahahahah my poor FH got confused.

Whats even funnier is I called my sister to laugh about it and she FREAKED OUT b/c her husband did the same thing on the SAME QUESTION!!

Luckily he's wise enough to know that many men can get confused with the way questions are worded.

now I wonder if he TRULY meant the answer and hasnt told me something VERY important...

I doubt it

The question really isn't worded well - I bet he does agree that homosexual feelings would have a negative impact on the relationship - but it didn't ask if he HAD those feelings

thats how I'm going to reply to peter (for him after I talk to him) that he agreed homosexual feelings WOULD have a negative affect on our relationship.
and got the wording confused.

Haha! Sounds like something my FH would do. Even though 25% of the couples invited to our wedding are gay/lesbian/bi.

That's funny! My FH forgot to fill in the general info on the front page so all of the default answers were filled in for him.

When we got to the meeting, the couple was very confused. His answers said that he was a non-catholic male with no children, no high school diploma, & no job & that he was African American! My answers were filled in to indicate that I had a child, & that we've been together since we were 16. This couple told us they were confused from the second we walked in since they were expecting FH to be black. They were also thinking I either cheated on FH or had my daughter before age 16 with a different guy & they were worried that FH dropped out of high school & had no job Needless to say, they felt much better after we explained that FH didn't realize there was a survey on the front!

Wow, that question is confusing! I definitely read it the same way as your FH did - I thought it meant, if your partner was having homosexual feelings, it would probably affect your relationship with them! Not that HE was the one struggling with homosexual feelings!! That poor pre cana instructor was probably like, uh oh....

Poor FH. Tell him I did the same thing he did. (Only not on an actual questionnaire, because I'm not Catholic)
