I just heard from my brother. He had to take my nephew to the ER today.
My nephew is 7 and has severe ADHD. Well, he was holding a pencil in between his teeth trying to put one of those rubber erasers on and the pencil slipped and put a hole in the back of his throat. The doctor said it missed his jugular by literally a hair. He would have died if the pencil went even a millimeter in the other direction. OMG that's so scary!
My nephew is okay and they decided not to put stitches in because of the risk of infection. He just has to eat soft foods for quite a while. He is so lucky!
