Very interesting how they don't give the reasons why they were shot at. I highly doubt the police just did a random drive by. This story sounds too fishy to me.

I agree....although it is VERY sad.

Our best man is an officer in Jamaica - his shift ended at midnight, otherwise he would've responded.

I'm going to see if he has anything to say about reasons.
NYPD doesn't fire 35 shots for no reason. I am almost positive that those men were armed.

And Im almost positive they were not armed, from what I hear. NYPD has fired in the past for a man having a wallet in his pocket. Why shot 35 times is what I want to know.

This is a very sad story. What is also sad is that people automatically assume that the shooting was racially motivated and/or the officers were 'out to get' the men for no apparent reason. The media makes their money selling papers and air time with sensational stories. I am sure that if the people who do not know that facts but are quick to jump to conclusions, walked a night in an officer's shoes, they would be singing a different tune. Don't believe everything you read or hear.

May God bless the bride that lost her love.

Re: OMG was this posted?

This just in:

NEW YORK (AP) — Police opened fire early Saturday on a car full of
men driving away from a bachelor party at a strip club, killing the
groom on his wedding day after an undercover officer was rammed with
the car.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said the deadly incident stemmed
from an undercover operation inside the club, but he did not know what
triggered the shooting.
Kelly said the car also rammed into an unmarked police minivan.
Seven officers in plain clothes were involved in the incident, but
only five fired.
Police sprayed 50 rounds at the car, hitting the vehicle 21 times,
and hit nearby homes, though no residents were injured. Kelly said it
was too early to say whether the shooting was justified.
The dead groom was identified as Sean Bell, 23. Two others in the
car, Trent Benefield, 23, and Joseph Guzman, 31, were taken to Mary
Immaculate Hospital. Kelly said there may have been a fourth person in
the car who fled the scene.
Several officers were injured in the incident, none seriously,
Kelly said.
Abraham Kamara, 38, who lives on Liverpool Street a few blocks from
where the shooting occurred, said he was getting ready for work at
about 4 a.m. when he heard bursts of gunfire.
“First it was like four shots,” he said. “And then it was like
pop-pop-pop like 12 times.”
A grand jury was investigating the incident. Kelly said none of the
officers who discharged weapons had been involved in previous police
shootings. He has not been able to interview the officers because the
district attorney must first complete an investigation, he said.
The shooting drew angry protests from family members and the Rev.
Al Sharpton.
Sharpton went to Jamaica Hospital, where Bell was pronounced dead,
and Mary Immaculate Hospital on Saturday and held news conferences
afterward. At Jamaica Hospital, the civil rights advocate stood with
about two dozen members of Bell’s and his fiancee’s family.
“I will stand with this family,” he said. “This stinks. Something
about the story being told did not seem right.”
Sharpton said Bell and his fianc Dee had two children, a 3-year-old
and a 5-month-old.
After meeting with the two wounded men at Mary Immaculate Hospital,
Sharpton said he was outraged to find the pair handcuffed to their
hospital beds. He said Guzman suffered 17 wounds, though it was
unclear how many were bullet wounds, and Benefield was shot three
times.
“We’re not anti-police
... we’re anti-police brutality,” he said.
Robert Porter, who identified himself as Bell’s first cousin, said
he was supposed to be a DJ at the wedding. He said about 250 people
were invited to the ceremony and were flying in from all over the
country. He said his cousin wasn’t the type to confront police and
that he was “on the straight-and-narrow.”
“I can’t really express myself. It’s a numb feeling,” Porter said.
“I still don’t want to believe it, a beautiful day like this, and he
was going to have a beautiful wedding, he was going to live forever
with his wife and children. And this happened.”
The Kalua Cabaret is next to an auto-body repair shop on a gritty
block across from a Long Island Rail Road station. The club is housed
on the first floor of a two-story brick building.

Ummm I don't think people automatically think that, it is what it is. I know cops and in my eyes there's no reason to shoot that many times.
