OMG...paint nightmare

I am painting my sons rooms today ( 2 walls Barn by Martha Stewart, 2 walls Bentwood by Martha Stewart). I never knew red would be such a hard time to paint! I used 3 coats, and you can still see some roller marks.

The color is beautiful, but let me advise you that if you want something painted red...HIRE SOMEONE!!!

Ive heard good things about Marths paint but maybe its that? I painted my walls red and two coats were all it took. I could have gotten away with one maybe. I used Behr (which I heard was the worst) and BM.

What are you painting over?

Did you use a tinted primer?

I feel for you..the orange/red color in my office took 4 coats to look right. We used Behr paint and didn't use a tinted primer because the color below it was a pale yellow/peachy color so we didn't think we need it - but it was a texture.

It was a pain. Thank goodness half the wall had wainscotting so we didn't have full walls to paint.

I didn't use a primer, because I was painting over a white wall and didn't think I'd need it.
The guy at the paint store warned me that red is difficult and I'd need at least 2 coats, but I guess I didn't believe him

I did 3 coats on 2 walls and it used up the whole gallon. It could use 1 more coat, so I guess I'll be back at the paint store tomorrow!

Tinted primer is the key. We did our dining room Red and the guy used a tinted primer and it only took 2 coats and we used Ralph Lauren paint which a lot of people hate. Came out great!
