so as we know my former employer fired me due to my M.S and would not make accomodations for me. To say the least there is a major situation occurring where I had to contact the division of Human Rights and the EEOC. I am going on an interview tomorrow do I tell them about my M.S.? What do I say when they ask me why I left my last job? I really need all of your help, I have been tossing and turning about this all week!!!!!!!!!!!!
TIA

Re: On a serious note.....................
Legally you do not need tell them anything about your personal history. I think if they ask what happened at your last job you should just answer honestly but in a more general way.. Maybe say that you needed a change -
You do not deserve to be discriminated against for something you can completely not help. Your going to do great on your interview, let your personality sell itself -
Good luck, get some rest today and dont forget to let us know how it goes!!!

Re: On a serious note.....................
You do NOT tell them anything about your medical history. You don't have to and they're not allowed to take that into account when they're hiring, so don't give them the opportunity to.
As far as what to tell them...maybe tell them you had to take some time off for a family issue, but it's resolved and you're ready to go back to work?
Something vague that they shouldn't ask about, and if they do you say ' it was a personal thing and it's over so I'd rather not discuss it.' I fyou're gonna have a place that haunts you for that kind of information, you don't want ot work there. But they won't bother you about it.
Good luck on your interview!

Re: On a serious note.....................
I don't think you should mention it to them. Legally they can't deny you a job because of a medical condition but who's the say that it won't factor in their decision?
I would go in there, confident, pleasant and able to do the job which is all they need to know. Good luck!!

Yeah, I wouldn't say anything about it. If you qualified for the job then your medical history is your business!!!!!!!

Re: On a serious note.....................
you def dont need to let them know about it. your previous employer was wrong to file you bc of it and it 100% should not be used against you at an interview. If they ask why you left you I agree that you should say you needed a change or that they were downsizing. just make sure if you are giving any references from your previous job that your stories match
good luck!!!

Re: On a serious note.....................
I feel your pain I wouldn't say anything. It's not their business.
You wouldn't feel obligated if ya had AIDS or HEPC or Seizures, or a Weak Heart.
MS is our business, once your hired and should you relapse and you feel like your boss would be receptive to the idea, then sure go ahead
I'm very very very open that I have MS, but should i leave this job, i wont be telling my new employers right off the bat.
as for why you left your last job- are they allowed to ask that? just say you wanted room for more growth? or something 'business' sounding
good luck with whatever your decide. at the end of the day it's a personal decision, there is not such thing as a wrong choice, you just have to be willing to deal with the consequences no matter what.

I agree, I would say that you were looking for something more challenging and didn't feel there was room for growth where you were.
