Re: On a tight budget....
I would say invites. I couldn't skimp on the major vendors cause those really matter to me.

The only thingg with invites is you are only saving like $100... I need to save at least $1K-$2K.

We decided no video. So that was an easy 1K. Also i would cut back on decor/flowers. Maybe some kind of candel centerpiece.

Then I would trim a little of everything...that way you don't miss one big item. Instead of the costly flowers mix high centerpiece and low ones. Instead of the plasma screens being displayed at the reception opt out of it.
When you are planning with every vendor they all try to upgrade you on any extras- keep your budget in mind and dont add anything to the contract.
Believe it or not- I saved $400 on ordering my invites online instead of the store.

Re: On a tight budget....
we cut back on our flowers, we only spent $700.00 on flowers, luckily a friend of the family did mine, we had all the regular bok, and butts, but for centerpieces we did a mirrir and some candles and rose petals

ditto on the invites, i saw a friends intvites that cost 5$ each!!!! i was shocked, they were beautiful, but not necessary. second would be the dress, you can find great dresses at davids bridal for 500 or on sale at other places, i could never bring myslef to spending thousands on a wedding dress, but that is just me

u def dont have to spend thousands on a wedding dress. you can get something beautiful @ 1K or a bit under. DJ u dont need all the xtra's, dj/mc will do, or just a dj. for flowers u can do candle centerpieces, that will save u a ton. i wouldnt skip videography, I think it is essential.

Re: On a tight budget....
also FM entertainment (DJ) is great and only like 1,000 for their basic package. We are using them and went to a wedding last week that used them. hope that helps! I know alot of DJs are mucho dinero

Re: On a tight budget....
I'd say the flowers and the dress.
The flowers, because while they are beautiful, they just end up getting thrown out at the end of the night.
The dress, because while it does look beautiful on your wedding day, you will NEVER wear it again. There are a lot of inexpensive beautiful dresses you can find, and just think of what you could do with the $$ that you save

i would skimp on the wedding dress - but only if you were planning on spending more than 2K to start with. You can definitely get great dresses for under 1K.

Re: On a tight budget....
I didn't get a video, I got photo's with no albums (I am going to make my own on mypublisher.com), my florist was extremely reasonable. You can definitely find a beautiful dress for under 1k....
Good luck!

We skipped the videographer. I know I will watch it once, maybe twice so it was an easy $1500 to save.
I would NOT skimp on the entertainment. You want everyone up and dancing. You can totally find reasonable dj's out there.

I think you can cut a lot out of your budget by going with simple decor. I have see that other woman make their own centerpieces using flowers from their local supermarket etc.

Re: On a tight budget....
I'd still have flowers but probably not as centerpieces. There's so much more you can do than flowers. Even make it your self centerpieces area hit and easy on the wallet.
Maybe look into 'Decorative Colored Glass' inside your centerpiece vases with flowers, or alone with floating candles. Colored glass is a way to round out a cheap wedding centerpiece and give it extra oomph.
We're skipping the videographer. A friend is filming the ceremony then we're passing around a high def camera at the reception for our guests to tape whatever they want. Well-we'll do this mostly at the beginning of the night before the liquor hits them!
