I am having such a difficult time deciding if I should go with Crescent Club where the ceremony will be on the beach or Carlyle where I can have it in the garden..I'm taking a chance with either place but the Crescent doesn't really have an alternate room in case of rain..The Carlyle has that wonderful chappel though..What do you guys think I should do.>Should I risk it raining and go for the beach or play it safe? HELPPPPP

I love beach weddings but with no inside alternative I wouldn't take the chance. Plus the Carlyle is beautiful!

Re: on the beach or in the chappel
I'm getting married at The Crescent and I'm a little nervous about the weather. Their indoor option isn't great, but I figured it was worth the risk since a beach wedding was really what my FH and I wanted. You need to weigh things out and just go with it. What will be will be and you, and I, just need to roll with the punches. I'm sure you're wedding will be beautiful no matter where you decide.

Re: on the beach or in the chappel
So what do they do if it rains? Everybody just gets wet?
I'd go with the Carlyle.
My cocktail hour is outside, and normally I'd be on weather.com every half hour the week before, but I think knowing that the staff will make the decision to have it indoors if neccessary will take the pressure of me. Now I'm thinking, either way is fine with me, so surprise me!
ETA: I just saw the other posts abotu the coctail room. You shoudl ask about that. Nferrandi, we are getting married the same day, so if my cocktail hour is outside, then your wedign will probabaly be too! I'll do my no hurricane dance!

Re: on the beach or in the chappel
they supposedly put you in one of the rooms for an alternate but do i want to have my ceremony in the same room as my cocktail or reception room> i just don't know.

If you have your heart set on a beach wedding, I think you should go for it. IF you have to use the indoor place at the Crescent, and if it isn't exactly perfect, you won't be in there long enough to have it ruin your day.
I think the risk is worth taking, but that's probably because I'm not the one taking it!

They'll switch it over for you & probabbly make it look really different after the ceremony if neccessary. Ask for pics!

Re: on the beach or in the chappel
They will either use the new cocktail area (they're doing renovations right now) or the new area outside of the ballroom. I agree that I'm not crazy about my ceremony being where my CH or reception will be, but I figure with the chuppa and flowers it will be beautiful none the less. I also want a lot of candles during my ceremony, so even if it's indoors it will still look very romantic.

Re: on the beach or in the chappel
I would play it safe and have an alternate place that you are happy with.
I had planned for an outdoor ceremony and my wedding was in June, but it pour all day. Although disappointed that I couldn't have my outdoor ceremony, I was very glad that my alternate indoor location was a beautiful space (glass convservatory - had outdoor feel but protected from the rain!).
Besides rain, there may be a heat wave that would prevent you from being outdoors, too. So it's best to have alternative arrangements when you are planning an outdoor event.
Good luck.

I would play it safe and go with the Carlyle. While beach weddings are beautiful so are garden weddings. And if it rains or if there is a heat wave, at least you'll have a different alternative with the Carlyle.
Good luck with your decision!

Dont take the chance only because you will be so disappointed if it rains and we don't like to see sad brides...

Re: on the beach or in the chappel
definitly go with carlyle. Why add stress? BTW my BF's bro got married at the Crescent when it rained, and they worked around it.

I go with play it safe. We went to a ceremony on the beach once and it was really WINDY!! Sand was blowing around!!! I think I'd play it safe b/c you'll have so much to worry about already and you can't change the weather!!!

Re: on the beach or in the chappel
Well I would go for your dream if that's what you and FH want. I say that because I really want a beach wedding too. I was wondering if I could list a second place on the invitation for inclement weather. I think I might have to put a post up though for how this is done.
