On the topic of registries...w/one more question ;-)
...do you have to make an appointment to register? I'm thinking we're doing BBB and Macy's...maybe a specialty store like Broadway Panhandler or Williams-Sonoma (we'll see 'bout that). For the larger chains, do I need to make an appointment? We won't be doing this for at least a month...but it never hurts to find out about these technicalities early on.
ETA: Which BBB is the best one to go to? (I'm thinkin' we'll do Macy's Herald Square)

I didn't make appts but let a consultant walk around with us at both Bloomies and BBB--it was a waste of time. She explained, 'now this is a plate, this is a fork....' pretty useless (at least in my experience).

no appt !! i do suggest if you register,at BBB go to the location by roosevelt field. they have fine china and i find they have a lot more than the other bbb's. unless you go to the 1 downtown? i think they have fine china.
i also STRONGLY suggest you have the lady walk around with you the 1st time with the 'finer gifts' then continue on your own for appliances and other stuff

Thanks, ladies! As always, a wealth of info.
Now the debate for me...BBB in the city (I know they have a large bridal section/fine gifts and such) or the one by Roosevelt Field (Westbury).
Would it be too crazy to do both Macy's and BBB in the same day? Or is that just asking for it?

ehhh try 1 a day. you will end up going to BBB about 10 times b4 your shower adding more and more stuff.
BBB gave me nothign but a headache thuogh. LOTS of stuff (11 pages) was not available in stores. 'see associate' was all u saw on my registry print out
luckily they gave me cash back for all my doubles and stuff i didnt want but registered for just to give ppl more of a choice.
i got back a lil over 1 grand lol and my kitchena nd living room is still packed.

I did both yesterday. I went to BBB in Westbury, which is huge!! ( it was my first time going) I had no appointment. I went they took my info. helped with fine china and then FH and I did the rest on our own. After finishing up there, we went to eat at cheesecake factory and then headed off to Macys in Manhasset. We were able to do both in one day but I have to say it was pretty exhausting

Totally, I registered there during the week and there was hardly anyone in the store so it was easy to scan items.
