ON your Wedding Day....don't forget...

ON your Wedding Day....don't forget...

ON my wedding day, there were MINOR things that I wish I could change or would of done differently. Don't get me wrong, Our Day was beautiful and all that matters is that me and Hubby love each other!!! But, I think this might be helpful to some brides.

Feel free to add on to my list that way we can make LIW brides wedding planning a little easier:

Do not Procastinate!!!
1)I should of searched harder for a cake topper. I couldn't find something I liked. I Totally regret not having one.
2)I wish I would of lost maybe 5 more lbs. Ha Ha.....I forgot the wedding video adds 5 lbs to you. I looked great in picts. but whoa....that video.
3) I wish I had more time for putting more detail into my favors. I had to pass it on to family members because I didn't have the time to do it my self. What I envisioned the final product to be, did not reflect the actual favor. It was still cute; however, I would of perfected it.
4) Also, my Programs, I did it 2 nights before the wedding and I didn't get a chance to finish. I didn't put enough time and detail to my program. Again, it wasn't what I envisioned.
5) For our engagment photos, Greg and the photographer convinced me to do our photos indoors only because it was 20 degrees out. I would of loved to have the snow in the back ground. I see everyone else's picts outdoors and they look so beautiful!! Major Regret!!
6) Although I loved my centerpieces and they were beautiful, It wasn't what I envisioned. Yes, I did meet with him and he showed me the flowers he would be using. First of All, The flowers were very fresh and colors were vibrant but, I didn't like the consistency of the colors. He was accurate with my colors that I wanted but he probably should of use less of one color and more of another.
Just Make sure you tell your florist which colors you want to stand out in your centerpiece. I had no problem with my Bo-K's.
7) Don't forget to let your photographer know which picts you want . I forgot to fill out the sheet they gave me and one thing I regret is the photographer not taking pictures of each table. That's my fault for not giving him the sheet. So don't forget to verbalize what photos you want.
8) Don't have high expectations on how people will treat you once they find out your engaged. YOu'll will definetly find out who your true friends are. I was so upset with a couple of friends for their behavior. And Don't think you won't get hurt from Family members and from FH's family.....because they will forget why they are celebrating and will make it all about them.
9) As for my bachelorette party, I should of kept it only to friends. I invited IL's and certain IL's didn't get along and made a scene at my party. But, because I wanted to be nice and include everyone, I invited them. PLease....... Do what you want!! Although we had fun, I think I would of had a better time with my friends only!!!
10) We had an interfaith and DH forgot to wear his Yamulke. :(

Things I don't regret:
I don't regret marrying my Hubby. :) He is the love of my life!!!
I don't regret having a winter wedding.
I don't regret getting married on a Friday.
I don't regret having a NY wedding versus a TX wedding.
I don't regret getting married at Fox Hollow.
I don't regret getting the airbrush make-up. I loved it!!
I don't regret taking photos before the ceremony!

There are many other 'I Don't regrets' but, just wanted to name a few.
Happy Planning!

I am going to add something else!

Take some time, whether it be 5 minutes or even one minute to spend with your new husband before being bombarded by all your guests, because after all the day is about the two of you.
And take a minute to go into your reception room to look at it before anyone else goes in there, just so you can see how beautiful it looks before it is filled up. That was one of the best things we di!!

Thanks very much for that info.....it will prove very helpful. :)

I have another thing to add-

I was a brdesmaid 2 weeks ago in the Bahamas for a friend:

Bring a sewing kit or double sided tape- we needed it for her dress. Very stressful @ the time.

Also take a minute during the reception to soak it all in - all the hard work, all your family & friends having a great time celebrating with & for you.

Don't forget to eat something.

Don't let more then 2 feet come between you & DH during the reception - some one kept grabbing us for just one sec.

Re: ON your Wedding Day....don't forget...

Boop, We did take a few minutes to ourselves in the bridal suite before the cocktail hour. I am so glad we did!! They brought us food which I am glad because we were unsure if we would be able to eat during the cocktail hour.

And we did look at the reception room before the wedding to see all the arrangements and to see how beautifully it was set up.

AS for Christine's great advice about eating. Yes, eat!!! I knew that was a must for me because I didn't want to feel weak and I didn't want to get tipsy. The day of your wedding make sure you eat while getting ready. You will probably think you won't have time but make time.

And as for the advice for about Don't let more then 2 feet come between you & DH during the reception - some one kept grabbing us for just one sec. , I think we did a good job of trying to stick together but you will always have someone take you away for that one second. I am not saying to be stuck like glue but remember the photographers are going to be taking picts and you want to be together as much as possible for those candid shots. I've been to a wedding where the bride and groom were never together! It was so obvious to everyone. I mentioned to hubby that this cannot happen to us.

Re: ON your Wedding Day....don't forget...

Wanted to add something else after reading Mrs. Brad's post about contracts.
Make sure you have all your vendor contracts with you on the day of your wedding. Throw them in a bag somewhere or have someone in charge of them. Things happen and having them there with you is sort of your sanity. If someone brings or does the wrong thing, just pull out the contract and it will be cleared up. I am so happy we had it because we needed our limo contract at the end of the night to get a ride home!!!
