Got their packet today, pricing looks good, but the pic is a drawing, not a photograph. Looks more like a house. It's in Roslyn. I think it might actually be a restaurant or something. ?

GWM is a catering hall and restaurant. It`s an old restored house, that`s at least 200 yrs old (George Washington was said to have slept there) It has a lot of character to it, but this is not the place if you`re looking for something modern. We had our enagement party there and loved it. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I went to a wedding there in July. There is a separate chappel area that was nice. The GW Manor is a restaurant and catering hall. The party room is upstairs and it's VERY small. My friend had 130 and it was tight. The food was very good.....room is all open-windows all around. If you have more people-check out Millerage, they are the same owners. (My mom got re-married there and it was BEAUTIFUL).

I'm hoping to stay around 120-125...how was the cocktail hour. Was it buffet style with butlered hor's d'oeurves? I couldn't tell from the menus. We're actually trying to stay away from anything too 'modern' which is why I've been avoiding a lot of the big catering halls. A lot of the castles and mansions don't offer the elaborate cocktail hour with buffet stations. Some only do passed h'or d'oeurves w/12 pieces per guests. I know my guests...they'll be HUNGRY!!

Not sure of the specifics
They were pretty flexible with us, but we only had passed hor's d'oeurves for the engagement party. You should give them a call if you have questions, they were plesant to work with.

I went to a wedding there. I had a great time. It is small but if you have less than 130 you should be ok. The wedding I went to had 130. The cocktail hour had passed and stations. It was a little overcrowded. I would say about 4-6 stations, seafood bar, and then the usual fruit and cheese stuff. Not alot but enough food. Dinner was really good. The lobster they had as an appetizer was a nice touch!

Another idea
You have a pretty high per person range. How many people are you inviting? You can also try Rosyln Claremont Hotel (across the street from GW)it is absolutely beautiful. Again if you want modern not the places to look. A friend of mine had a small wedding at GW Manor and they did a great job. They treated the affair the same as if were a large wedding. That says a lot about a place.

I got Married there this past May
...people still talk about the food and the place! It was spectacular. I posted a review, but if you want more info, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]

I could be wrong, but I think she was referring to the number of guests she's anticipating, not the price per person she was willing to spend. But, maybe I'm wrong...

125-130
was the number of guests. My best friend had her wedding at the Roslyn Clairmont...it was beautiful, but a bit too 'gold and chandeliers' for me. I'll definately check out GW Manor...I didn't realize it was right across the street. You guys are awesome!! Thanks for all your input. Opinions still being accepted...

GW Manor
I looked there too. I just have one comment about the place, and it only applies if you're planning to have your ceremony there as well. And even then, it only applies if you care about this aspect. The ceremony takes place in a little 'chapel' across the parking lot on their grounds. This posed two issues for me (1) I didn't like the guests walking through a parking lot after the ceremony to get to the reception - I didn't think that looked elegant or nice, and (2) if it rained, and I asked them about this, they have no covered walkway-type thing that they would provide for your guests. They offered to run back and forth with umbrellas, but no covered awning or anything. Again, this might not bother you, or you might not be having your ceremony there, in which case, it doesn't matter at all. Just my opinion. Good luck with your planning.

GW Manor - and..
as it turned out, it did rain on my wedding day, so I'm glad I didn't go there. (FYI - I went to Crest Hollow.)

GW Manor
I looked at this place when I got married, and I remember that the cocktail room was small, and the place looked like it needed to be re-done a bit. Just an opinion - it depends on your style and what you are looking for. Good luck!Welcome New Vendors
