For the invitation, is 5:00 considered in the afternoon, or the evening? TIA!

I would say evening, although it's sort of borderline really.
Mine was 4:30 and I put in the afternoon.

My ceremony is at 5:00 and I consider it the evening.

I think in the summer its the afternoon, and in the winter its the evening. So since you are in June, I would say afternoon. Evening to me is when the sun is going down, and its still bright and sunny at 5pm in June!

Check the almanac for sunset on that day....sounds cheesy but that is delineating time for afternoon/evening. But if one makes more sense than the other to you than just go with your gut and what YOU like. No one should fault you.

I think it is borderline. If you are going more formal, I would put evening (when people think evening they think formal, and when they think afternoon they think casual). I say use the wording to your advantage
