one more title question: Ms vs Miss?

one more title question: Ms vs Miss?

If an unmarried guest is a little older (55) would you address her invite Ms or Miss?

What about an unmarried guest in her mid-late twenties.. Ms or Miss?

I think any unmarried lady, at any age, is Miss. If they are divorced it is Ms.

I guess Ms. for the slightly older guest. I originally had Miss for all of my unmarried friends my age, but am considering changing them all to Ms.

I put Ms. for anybody in their 20s and older...

That's what I was going to do.. so nix the Miss altogether then?

Ms. is more of a professional title for unmarried women and should be used for older woman.

I used Miss. for anyone under the age of 20.

It's actually college age and younger is 'Miss', anyone older than that is 'Ms.'

Miss is for younger girls, Ms. is for a guest you would consider a woman not a girl

Miss is unmarried regardless the age, and Ms. is for divorce or widowed.

Ms. is actually for any woman (whether they are married, unmarried, divorced or widowed). It is considered a more 'formal' or business fashion of addressing a female. Miss is for definitely single women and Mrs. for people definitely married. Since Mr. doesn't designate a marital status, that is how Ms. was formed...to have a title for a woman that doesn't designate marital status.

They say that you should address women as ms unless you know they prefer miss or mrs.

I addressed everyone as Ms on my invitations.
