One photographer, two photographer....

One photographer, two photographer....

We've begun our search for our photographer and are so confused. We've decided that we really want more of a photojournalistic approach to our pictures, rather than traditionally posed ones. We've decided that we do not want to use a photographer that gives you proofs on a DVD, or one that gives you proofs on a cd, but with copyright info written across the front, or one that uses a proof book, rather than loose pictures.

Ok, so we've narrowed it down to NINE A few that we love are single photographers, that is, they work alone. Some of them can hire an additional photographer for our ceremony and for our photo session. One that we spoke with today doesn't use an assistant! Does that make sense? Who is going to fix the lighting, hand off the different cameras and lenses? That has me worried...

Should I insist on a photographer that uses an assistant? Should I make sure I have more than one photographer for the ceremony and our photo session or is one enough? I really have my heart set on shots of both his face and my face when we see each other for the first time and from both ends of the room when we take our vows. (Did I just answer my own question?)

This is even harder than choosing a hall!

It's honestly personal preference. If it'll put you at ease that the photographer have an assistant, you can narrow down your choices to look into ones that do.

My photographer doesn't work with an assistant. She's a professional, I have all the faith in the world that she can handle it. She's photojournalistic, and all her work and information is on her website.

I agree that this is a matter of personal preference. It also depends on how many people in general you will have. We had a 200 person wedding and we had 2 photographers and an assistant. And we definately needed it all. The difference with some photographers who use the 2nd photographer effectively is you really do get twice the pictures. We expect between 1000-1500 pictures from our wedding.

If you decide you want the two photographers, select someone who normally works with a secon photographer because it really seems to matter when they know who is doing what.

Good luck to you. Not sure if you are looking to add another photographer to your mix but in case, we used Lina Jang Photography and I highly recommend her

Also keep this in mind to narrow down your selection ... check on the better business bureau website. I had a super long list and I check w/ BBB and that cut a few right off. As for the # of photographers, I am going w/ 2 b/c I want all the good shots I can get! I'm also having 2 videographers b/c I want 1 filming me walking down the aisle, and 1 filming FH as I come down. I say the more the merrier.

The more photographers there are, the better your chances of capturing you best moments and getting good shots. Personally I would go with 2.

I am having 2 photographers and an assistant. It's not a matter of them being professional or not, sometimes having more than one photographer they can capture different views of you. Thats what i liked about having an assistant

I think I'm going to definitely get two - at least for the ceremony and for our photo session at Planting Fields. I'm definitely having two videographers for the ceremony and photo session, so I should insist on two for the photos as well. I'm sure that the professionals don't necessarily need assistants, but it would give me piece of mind for my photographer to have an one.

bottom line- whoevers work you like- go with that person!

with me, i look at the pics- and the ones that can make anyone look beautiful - and whose pics tell the story- and can make you cry-those are the true experts

dont worry about lighting and assistants and proofs and all that other stuff. just be sure to like their final product. if you like it , then go with that person. dont worry about all the silly details!! good luck sweets!
