Only FOUR more months....

Only FOUR more months....

...and Paul will be turning TWO YEARS OLD!! I cannot believe it, myself! My boy is growing up before my eyes...he's talking more and more everyday, and just becoming a little man!

So my question...I am debating whether to throw a 2nd birthday party for him. My Mom keeps saying that I don't have to - that usually the first bday is the BIG party, but I'm not sure what the general protocol or concensus is. We just got an invitation in the mail for a friend's daughter's 3rd birthday.

Also, Paul's bday this year falls right on Mother's Day, which is great for me, but I'd have to choose an alternate day to host a party, otherwise no one would show up!

What do you guys think?

I think you should definitely have a b-day party for him!!! Since Mothers Day is always on a Sunday, could you have it the day before?

Wow, 2 already?! What a big boy!!!

As for the party, that is your call and yours alone. It's fine to have a party, and fine not to. Either way, I'm sure the big day will be well celebrated.

WOW Claud, I remember your preggo posts on here!!! Time does fly !!

PARTY only for the first year ????

Id have parties till Im old and gray

I know you mean whether to throw a BIG HURRAH or not. I agree with Jenn, it's totally up to you and Jeff as far as how big of a bash to make it, whether to do a small family thing or something bigger. Totally up to you. There is no right or wrong.

Alot of families and friends I know choose one or the other. ' Keep it 'smaller' after the 1st Bday, and I know others that make a decent size party every year. So whichever suits your family is best for you. Im sure either way, Pauls day will be EXTRA special, and your Mothers Day cant be ANY more special than that !

Definitely have a party, maybe just not as big as his 1st, but something to make it special. I can't believe how time flies!!

Wow 2 years already. I agree it doesn't have to be a big bash like a first b-day party but a little something, maybe with just family

Wow I can't believe how quickly these babies grow up--
We celebrate with my nieces and nephew's each year but just immediate family and few others--nothing as big as the first year-- but I think you should do whatever you want to do!!!

our immediate family + few others always equals close to 40 people!!!!! So some might think that is big but for us it isn't!!!!

Re: Only FOUR more months....

Claud billy is 7 and I have had birthday parties for him every year.
Actually we have been doing 2. One I invite the entire class and any other friends he wants to wherever he wants to have his party and then I have another small party with family ( they usually come over and I order platters and stuff)
You dont have to go overboard, you can keep it simple.. maybe even have it out someplace ( could actually wind up being less expensive)
Billys 2nd birthday we had at chuck e cheeses.
A few pies and some drinks came out to be alot less then the platters I had ordered the year after..

2 YEARS ALREADY? I cannot believe it!!

I think that the party can be whatever you want it to be. I know some people who only do 1st b-day parties and then just have a few people over for cake after that. I also know other people who always have a big party for their kids. There is no rule for this one.
