Only me

Only me

So i've been taking claritin for my allergies forever. Saw all the people that loved zyrtec and thought I'd give it a whirl. Lucky me, looks like i'm allergic to it! I've had dry mouth, swollen tongue and a slightly swollen throat. I was having problems eating and started the choke on Saturday. Didn't think anything of it until I started choking at every meal. It took me 1/2 and hour to eat 2 slices of pizza today cause i have to cut it super small and drink lots of water to get it down. It's scary. Stopped taking the zyrtec and i'm hoping to be back to normal by the weekend or it's off to the doctor for me!

This is yet another case of if it ain't broke don't fix it. Back to claritin i go.

LOL that would be nice. FH is still upset over seeing me choke. He's honestly afraid to leave me home alone tonight. Asked me to try and wait till he gets home at 9 to eat dinner.

About 1.5 years ago I had a severe allergic reaction we think to a sauce I ate. My face and head blew up to about 3x it's normal size. It was BAD. Had to put me on wicked strong steroids to take down the swelling. Ever since then I have anxiety attacks when I feel the slightest itch on my head and he's constantly trying to reassure me everything is ok. Really stinks living like this. I've never had an allergy problem before. Just don't understand why all of a sudden I'm sensitive to things. My mom (an RN) says it happens. As we get older our body chemistry changes....wanna stay younger forever.

they say that about every 7 years your body can develop new allergies, so eventhough you weren't allergic to something at one point, in the future you can develop an allergy for it or the reverse

just take it easy and be very aware-especially when your alone

Re: Only me

Thanks Teri. I will be. Thinking I should probably see an allergist to see if they can figure out what is going on. I think I'm also so afraid of having it happen again that I go into anxiety attacks which just makes it oh so much better. Yeah me!

Re: Only me

Your welcome. The allergist can do a regular allergy test and then they can also do a food allergy test, this way you know all the things you need to be aware of. They just can't do both tests in the same day

Re: Only me

Yeah. Went for an allergy test about 10 years ago and there was nothing I was allergic to. Absolutely nothing. So weird because my sinuses give me so many problems. Maybe things have changed. When i requested that my doc send me to the allergist the first time, she didn't see why since it was a one time occurrence. Maybe i need to demand it.

Isn't it just freakin annoying? the worst is not knowing exactly what's in the sauce I had that I'm allergic to. Yeah mysteries. I have to say, I was all anxious this evening but as soon as FH got home from school, I just mellowed out. I just feel so safe when he's around me, like I'll always be ok. It's so odd. Told him this, figured I'd open up, he said 'Well I can't take you to work with me so we gotta work on this anxiety thing'. Oh the love. I'm sure once the effects of the allergic reaction disappear I'll be fine.

Re: Only me

And then of course there is the HUGE fear that something will happen the day of the wedding.

At least FH will be there to save the day
