only one choice for dinner

only one choice for dinner

We are getting married in St. Louis (we live in NYC) and we are only getting one choice for dinner, our guests don't get to choose. Is this strange.

All of the weddings that I have been to up here are multiple choice.

If you were from NYC and attending a wedding in a differnt region of the country, would you think it weird if you had your dinner choosen for you?

AND if you did have someone choose your dinner, do you think we should go with a nice chicken dish or with some sort of steak something (I don't eat seafood, so that is out of the question)

TIA!

I went to only one wedding in my life where we didn't have a choice. It was a destination wedding in Miami. Our entree was filet mignon and a lobster tail. There was a vegetarian dish available if needed. At first we were like, oh no choice? but it was fine. We ate, we were happy and i never thought about it again until this post. HTH.

ive never been to a wedding with one choice but what that one entree offered would be the deciding factor whether i thought it was weird. I think the main course should be something everyone will eat. You mentioned seafood is out of the question, however i for example dont eat meat, so i wouldnt eat the entree since you mentioned you would like to do either a chicken or a beef dish. I agree with the above poster that if you are doing just one entree it is a good idea to have a seafood/meat combo so this way your pleasing everyone and no one is in the position where they wont eat it.

you have two options. Like the previous post mentioned you can have dual entree so people can eat at least half.

The other option is to ask to add another choice. Usually it will cost about $5 - $8 pp. I am not sure about St. Louis but that is the range in nyc so I can't imagine it wold be more. Don't forget you have a veggie option.

I normally don't recommend people chosing chicken since most of eat it every night and it is often overcooked by catering halls- but in the case of only one choice that might be your best best

Thanks ladies.

I suggested just adding on another and they said that I would have to move up to the next pkg. $80 pp, we are currently paying $62 (average in St. Louis is around $30 so my parents already think I am crazy, LOL) this bigger pkg has bells and whistles that we don't nessisarly need.

This really ***** b/c it is the only thing that I don't care for about them, they have been great with everything else.

ughhhh.

I will try to negotiate tomorrow on my lunch break!

i agree that you should try and do a dual main if you have to stick with just one - at least that way picky eaters might be able to eat at least half of the entree

one of my BMs just did a dual main course for her wedding a few weeks ago - it came with both a chicken and filet mignon. a vegetarian option was also available for vegetarians. it worked out really well and everyone was very happy about getting to eat both chicken AND a filet! good luck!!!
