Are these necessary? We only have 4 people staying at the hotel plus 4 BP members.

Re: OOT Bags
Its funny, before this site, i have never even heard of OOT bags. I have never received one at any wedding. Is it a LI thing or is it done other places? I am only going to have a total of 5 OOT guests.

Re: OOT Bags
They aren't necessary at all.
I've gotten them at some weddings and not at others. I'm doing them but only b/c I have 62 rooms booked. We have a lot of OOT's.

They're not necessary....just a nice touch if you have the extra time & money. If not...don't worry about it.
Yes, actually this is done in other places besides LI. I went to a wedding about 10-12 years ago in Newport, RI and my Cousin did these. We loved them.

It is not necessary. It;s just an extra touch. No one would say anything or notice if you didn't do it.

Re: OOT Bags
I'm doing them because I LOVE making baskets up, and this is a perfect excuse! Plus, it lets me include things that I was considering as a wedding favor, like wine, candles, wine glasses, those little coffee and tea packets, etc. To me, it's a chance to be creative! . I don't think you HAVE to make them, though! And if so, just do a popcorn bucket filled with popcorn, candy, soda and water for munchies when the guests get back to the room. That can be really inexpensive, but still a nice touch that your guests will appreciate. I went to a wedding where they did this, and OH BOY, did we appreciate that Snickers bar upon arrival! lol

I'm doing them as well (we have a lot of people staying so I figured it was a nice touch).
I've gotten them before at out of state weddings but, either the bride or groom was originally from the NY metro area.

I agree with the others folks-it's a nice touch, but not necessary. I'm doing them, but I don't expect them when I am an OOT guest. I've only rec'd them in the metro/tri-state area.

I agree, it doesn't seem to be the standard in LI, but I think it's definitely the standard in Boston. I spend a lot of time on the Knot's Boston board, and pretty much every bride on there is doing OOT bags. That being said, I don't think they're necessary, but I always love getting one when I'm an OOT guest.
We have about 100 OOT guests, and we're doing them....
