OOT Brides When did you get your alterations?

Hi all,
Ok.. Right now I live in NY but I will be moving to Florida in a few months and coming back June 05 for my wedding.
I already bought my dress/shoes and I'm sure the only alterations i'll need are on the staps.
Here's the thing.. I was going to get that done now and leave my dress here with my parents. What do I do about getting it pressed and everything? I'm confused and I don't know how to go about this. Help!

I live in Chicago and purchased my gown when I was home in Jan. My dress should come in April and I will do the alterations were I bought it. I will have to coordinate my next few trips to NY around fittings. I know I will be in NY for a wedding in May and June for my brother's HS grad.

I had the same problem (bought my dress in New Orleans and left it with my parents--had it shipped to NY--wedding was here). I had my fittings in NO and then had it shipped to NY. The week of the wedding, I brought it to a dry clenaing place and had it steamed.
