Are you inviting many out of town friends to your shower? My shower will be on LI but I can't decide who to invite friend-wise, b/c all my friends live OOT. 3 of my closest friends are BMs, so obviously they are included, but beyond that....everyone is at least a few hour drive away....
.....what would you do?
eta: the shower will be relatively small (probably about 40 ppl--not all the women who are invited to the wedding are invited)

3 of my friends are OOT. i know one isn't coming because she's coming for my wedding and bach party in PR so she can't spend the money. the other two are.
invite your really close friends. I wasn't going to invite one and she was like 'you better not NOT invite me b/c i live in CA' so that answered that question

haha....I know one of my BMs lives in CA--I told her when I asked her it was ok if she couldn't come to the shower, b/c I know she might not be able to afford to come for the shower AND the wedding....but we'll see!
See the tough part is that those 3 are the really close ones, beyond that it's a few people who I was pretty close to in college....but since then not as much....(which is only 3 years)....but I still feel like I want to invite them....

I am still sending invitations to OOT friends. They are not expected to make it, but I didn't want them to think that I wasn't thinking of them.

what about any of FH's friends girlfriends that you hang out with all the time? I'm kind of close to some of them too...haha....but where is the line?!

I ilive in LI but am from PA and am having my shower in PA. all my friends are in LI but I am hoping they make the trip anyway. It's about 2 hours away. I am inviting FH friends girlfriensd that I hang out with regularly

not inviting them, but that's up to you. he actually told me not to, and one girl is his good friend from college. But you do need to draw the line
i would still invite your OOT friends. they'll be happy to be invited and they probably know that you wouldn't be upset if they didn't come

MOST of my bridal shower guests are OOTers. All of my bridal party except one. My MOH is planning it and she lives in Boston, though she is planning it in NYC (I think)
I gave her a list because I didnt want to offend my good friends from Vegas, Rochester, Pittsburgh and Boston. So, I said to invite them even though I know a lot wont show up. All of FH's family is here, so those women will definitely be there. I hope I have a decent turn out.

I have family and friends from OOT that I am inviting. Some of my family will probably take a few extra days to make a long weekend out of it. My friends aren't coming from that far and might stay with another friend that lives close by.

I just had this issue with OOT relatives. What I was told is that you should invite anyone that you would invite if they were local.

See my worry about this is that they will then feel obligated to get me a gift and think that that is why they got an invitation. I have friends who are teachers though, and if my shower is taking place once school is out, maybe they WOULD travel up here for it, who knows!

We are inviting OOT women to my shower, bc they will come.. my big ol italian family doesnt miss any of these gatherings - so they will all get invites!

I would invite your OOT friends regardless.... Leave it up to them if they want to travel or not. I am not involved with my shower, but I hope some of my OOT friends come (especially one of my BM's - lol) . However, I would completely understand if people couldn't make the trip...

I have had this debate with many of my family and friends that live in Kansas. I am always disappointed when I do not get an invitation to an event that everyone knows I can't attend. I would still like an invite, and I always send a gift.
