What do you girls think about this? I didn't invite any out of state guests to my shower, because it just seemed too far to travel for a shower, and I didn't want them to feel obligated to send a gift.
However, i have one friend who invited me to her bridal shower years ago, that was super far away. Today, I just got the invite to her baby shower which is also super far away. We're not that close, so I'm not going to fly just to go to a 2 hour party. But i got invited, thus have to send a gift. Again.
anyway, i'm just curious what you girls think about this. am i wrong for finding this annoying?

i have a lot of friends out of state and we invite each other to this kind of stuff. We actually all try to attend even when its far but if we cant we send gifts. I don't get annoyed or think they are just trying to get a gift out of me. I just feel like they want me to be part of their shower...so its a nice thing to be invited.

If they were close family or friends they were invited to my shower and most of them came and I always make the effort to go to OOT showers for close friends and fam... if it wasn't a close friend I would be annoyed. FH has a friend who he really only knows through his brother but we're always getting invitations to their kid's birthday parties and such and it's super annoying because we barely know these people.

yeah, i guess that's totally it. if it was a close friend, i would definitely go. but i haven't talked to this girl since i got engaged in april '09, so i feel the invite was pretty random!

We invited a lot of oot guests to my shower, but that's only bc they were either close family or my close friends. I understand that it can get annoying to get invited to parties soooo far away, but I guess ur friend is being nice and doesn't want u to be offended that u didn't get an invite.

I actually did not invite any OOT guests to my shower for this reason. I think it's a little ridiculous if you havent spoken to the girl in 3 yrs!!

Well if you would be invited if you lived close, I think it is ok to invite someone who lives oot. As someone who lives far away from all my friends and family, it really ***** when you are not invited to something that you normally would be. So I guess it could go both ways.

I included OOT and I know some are going to see it as I'm fishing for gifts. Which I'm not. I just didn't want to hear in a year or two well we weren't invited to your shower. I'm not expecting gifts I just want all of them to feel included.
BUT if its a random friend you haven't spoken to in ages I would be a little miffed family is different.

My mom didn't invite any OOT family to my shower, but I did invite a couple of OOT friends.
