OOT guests - blocking rooms 101

OOT guests - blocking rooms 101

It seems I have alot more OOTers coming to attend the wedding than I originally expected... I have no place for these folks to stay and I have no idea what the wedding ettiquette/procedure is here in getting these guests accomodations...

What's my next step? How do I go about blocking rooms? Do I have to pay for the rooms? Do I have to pay a fee to block?

Any suggestions from those who went through it are greatly appreciated....

Thanks!!

I just went to the brand spaking new Marriot Courtyard in Farmingdale. The rooms are beautiful!

Just call whichever hotels you are looking into and tell them you are interested in booking a block of rooms. Then make an appt. with them and they will walk you through it.

I am staying at the Courtyard because for an extra 100 they will keep the cash bar open until 4 am and then we can have breakfast the next morning. They also have an indoor pool for the kids!!

no you don't pay for the rooms, the guests pay for their own rooms and no most hotels you dont even put money down to block the rooms. You call up block a certain number of rooms, whatever doesnt get booked about a month before the wedding they release and thats it

I just blocked some rooms at the Fox Hollow-Inn. The minimum (I think) was 10 nights, not just 10 rooms…so for instance we booked 7 rooms for 1 night each and 1 room for 2 nights, which gives us 9, but all you have to guarantee is 75%, so we’re good.

Be careful...some hotels I spoke to said if all 10 of my blocked rooms do not get booked, then I was responsible fot paying for the rooms that were not booked.
Call around to hotels not too far from your RH. We booked the Islandia Marriott...they were great and they reserved the bridal suite for us too.

My hotel has a certain rate of rooms that I have to fill, like if I block 20 rooms I have to fill 15 of them or else I am responsible for what's not filled up to 15. We have so many OOT guests that I knew this wouldn't be a problem but if you are unsure how many people you are going to have make sure to read the fine print!!!

Yes - MAKE SURE YOU READ THE CONTRACT - all print - even tiny tiny print. The Inn At Fox Hollow - if all of your rooms do not book out - you are charged. The hotel down the block - the Executive Inn is not that way. They hold your rooms & if at least 70% of them are not booked - the rate reverts back to a normal rate...if they are booked - they stay the group rate!

You do not have to pay if you don't want to or have the funds. We are giving my visiting peoples a choice - Inn at Fox Hollow or Executive Inn. We only signed an agreement with the EI because of the Fox Hollow rule of paying..
