OOT'rs do they really come??

FH has about 15 oot people on his list & I have about 6 on my oot list (they are included in our 125 guest list). I'm really wondering if the'y're gonna make the trip up from GA & Fl and pay for their air fare; hotels etc??

I feel bad saying it but i kind of hope some of them don't (his college friends) cause then that's less we actually have to pay for! (i know i'm a bad person! LOL!)

It really depends on how close these people are to you. I would say about 90% of our guests live out of town but they are all coming. Some have started paying on their room blocks already. Most of both of our families live OOT so we are really close to these people.

I also did things very early to make sure and give everyone enough time to budget and pay for things. I booked the room blocks probably 18 months out and we set a date in March of 09 for our 2011 wedding

i agree. it all depends how close these individuals are too you. if you are hosting a wedding in fl, a lot of people use your wedding as a reason for a mini vacay and since fl is a hot vacay spot, they might just very well show up.

for OOT guest, i think it's best to let them know ahead of time, or possibly send them your invitations earlier than the rest of the guests, just to make sure you know whether or not to include them in your headcount.

I think it depends on how close the family is. For my FSIL's wedding, i would say about 1/3 of the guests were OOT and pretty much all of them came. It was crazy, for the dinner rehearsal, they had it at the swan club and it was a mini version of the wedding b/c FMIL invited all of the OOT's to that. So...I included the same OOT's on our guest list..all i know is that they better show up b/c i'm including them as part of my 175 min guarantee!

yea-his oot guests are friends from college that he stayed in touch with (one who he went back to GA for their wedding a few years ago) all my oot guests are family-cousins; uncles...wonder if they'll actually come up?? Maybe our guarantee is only 100 so if they don't we're still good.

we went to a wedding about 2 years ago that almost every OOT guest from AZ came to. That was like 25 people. I was shocked.

I'm hoping most of ours don't come lol. We have out of country guests on our list too.

FH has a good chunk of family from England/Ireland that if anything we are sending an invite as a curtiosy, but FMIL and FFIL have already said that majority are not going to able to make - mainly due to the fact that the kids are still in school and they won't be able to take them out of school to make the trip.

I think though that if you have family/friend close enough that live out of state they will definitely make the trip for you.

I hope mine do - my matron of honor and one of my BM is from OOT so they are coming. But i went to college out of state so i hope those friends come.

i dont think you need to pay air fare for people - maybe if it were a destination wedding and even hotel - you dont need to pay for that.. you just block of the rooms
