Open house question??

Open house question??

If you go to an open house that is for sale by owner, and you LOVE it, do you put a bid in before you leave (on the spot)....or should you wait and call later or the next day?

Looking for a house is so hard....we are looking in a very small area which makes it harder. We have seen everything and just waiting for something new to come on the market and hope its perfect for us! We are getting very frustrated!

I think that if it is for sale by owner you should ask them how they would like you to present the offer to them if you are interested before you leave the open house. They may tell you to call later or that they would like it in writing, but it never hurts to ask IMO. I don't know if I would be sure how to go about it either.

Yeah - I don't think it hurts to ask right there either. My friend sold his home on his own, and he sold in one afternoon at his first open house. so sometimes it pays to make offers on the spot.

I have learned after losing out on several places to NEVER WAIT! If you are ready to go for it then you should right away.

Talk to them on the side and find out what they are asking. There is always a bit of negotiation. If you are confidant make an offer. It is in your best interest to show them you pre-approval letter (not to be confused with pre-qualification letter!) to prove that you are indeed a serious buyer!!

definately better to ask how the bidding is and put a bid in then... the seller may take the first offer they get....

My FIL was in real estate for a bit and he has helped friends sell FSBO. He has seen people get multiple offers during the open house and take them. When it's hot people go for what they want!
