Re: OPI Gel Manicure
Lisalana did this a few weeks ago so she can comment---her nails looked beautiful and were still perfect for weeks! I think she said it isn't very healthy for your nails so not good to do on a normal basis but fine for wedding day, e-pics, etc..

Re: OPI Gel Manicure
My nail girl was pushing this on me when I went for a reg mani on THursday, so I'm wondering the same thing.
How is it different from UV gels? Or is it?

I don't think it is different... just the OPI brand for UV gel. My nail lady was pushing me to do it for the wedding/honeymoon when i go on friday. so confused!

Re: OPI Gel Manicure
I got my nails done last week with the opi gel- definately have one more week at least of use. So I dont know if it wrecks your nails yet but I havent had any chips and scratches arent visible, Im hoping there not F'd up when the color comes off.,

Re: OPI Gel Manicure
I had this done last saturday for a wedding I was in. I had it done with a french manicure and they still look great! I don't know if its bad for your nails but I dont think its that great either. i am going to keep using for this month since my wedding is in just a few weeks. I'll post when I get it taken off this saturday! I totally recommend it! I think its looks great and normally french comes right off, but this is still shining like I just had them done! :)

Re: OPI Gel Manicure
Im really curios now what kinda shape my nails will be in. Ive had a forever french done months back and it wrecked my nails- really thin all broke off. I think the removal for this is different you soak the color off- for the forever it was filed down and shizz. Ohhh man, anyone do both? is it gonna be bad

You soak it off but they have to scrape and file a bit i believe. don't quote me on that though1

I got this done and it does ruin your nails. I was told it would def not ruin them but my nails were always so strong before. I have it off now nearly 6 weeks and they are only starting to grow back now. I will be getting in done for the wedding though as i loved it so much. It lasts about 3 weeks but at least next time i know what to expect. I love my nails but i want my manicure to last for the Honeymoon too and your nails feel so strong with the Gel.

Re: OPI Gel Manicure
Crashing! I get the OPI gel manicure's done and I love them. For those confused on what it is, basically it is a paint on gel that hardens using the UV light. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. My nails stay nice looking for at least two weeks. I haven't noticed that my nails are weaker at all -- and I sometimes go back and forth between the OPI gel and regular manicure (because the gel manicure is more expensive). If I had any complaint about it at all, it's that you need to soak them off (in nail polish remover) to get the gel off and therefore it takes a little bit longer at the salon than a regular manicure. Other than that, it is seriously so worth it!
HTH!

Re: OPI Gel Manicure
I got this done for e-pics a few weeks ago. It was great for a week, but then started peeling off at the sides. After 11 days, I couldn't take it any more, and peeled them all off by myself. They pretty much came off in sheets!
My nails did seem a bit weaker, and seemed to have some damage to the surface, almost like air bubbles or something. My manicurist also said that I have really strong nails, so should only do this for special occasions.
So, while it lasted a lot longer than a normal mani, especially for a french, I defintely wouldn't have it done regularly. Maybe only for my wedding/HM.

Re: OPI Gel Manicure
I did it and so did FMIL my nails were so weak after I got that done. It does stay. FMIL it stays for almost a month on me it lasts about 10 days. Both of us realized how weak our nails were once we got the gel taken off you nails keep breaking. I am doing it for the wedding on my nails and my toes because it will stay for the honeymoon. But I wouldn't recommend doing it on a daily basis.

Re: OPI Gel Manicure
anything you put on your nails other then nail polish will ruin them. That's the price of beauty. The OPI mani is amazing... if you feel your nails getting week try using Duri Rejuvacoat in between- it makes my nails nice and strong
