EVERY photographer I visited has encouraged me to see each other beforehand, and I really don't want to do it, but am afraid we won't get all our pix done if we don't do it that way....and that we'll miss all of our cocktail hour and some of the reception...

We're having our reception and ceremony both at Coral House, starting at 12 pm.

Does anyone have any suggestions or did anyone choose to be traditional and not see each other before the ceremony?

My sister had her ceremony and reception there. I think what they did was no receiving line, took the photos immediately after, so all the family was told not to go anywhere, and they took them in front of the lake. It actually went pretty fast, and we did get to the CH - I was in the BP, and I remember being at the CH and eating, so I don't think the photos took that long at all.

The reason they encourage you do that is because they want you to be happy with your formal shots and yet still be able to enjoy your party. My photographer told me that so many brides miss their CH or parts of their reception b/c they are taking formal and family shots. I don’t want to miss a moment of my wedding. we’re taking pics for 2 hours before the ceremony.

DH and I didnt see eachother till the ceremony.

The photographers came to our homes before the wedding and took getting ready/ family shots.

During our CH we took alone pics and extended family pics. We had ALOT of pics with family to take (we had almost 800 guests!) but we managed to do everything in 90 minutes. We did miss our CH though, but I wasnt planning on attending anyway.

I think if you have a list and you're organized about exactly what you want, you can take everything you need, and have some time at your CH.

The only suggestion is have two photographers do some separate pics of each other before the wedding and your BP & Family and then do pics together with family and BP and just the two of you.

Honestly it is a lot easier for not only them but you if you do it before hand, but that's got to be something you want to do. It's your wedding and the choice is fully yours.

We are doing pics before hand we don't want to miss CH and our ceremony is at the catering hall. I want a ton of pics to pic from so this is the best way for me. I am thinking of having the photographer start at 9 am.

I LOVE THE COCKTAIL HOUR, THE FOOD IS THE BEST SO WE REALLY WANT TO BE A PART OF IT INSTEAD OF TAKING PICS. THAT'S WHAT MADE OUR DECISION ON SEEING EACH OTHER AND TAKING PICS BEFORE. MY PHOTOGRAPHER IS GOING TO TAKE A PIC OF US AT THE CATERING HALL AS WE FIRST SEE EACH OTHER.

i feel like we're paying a lot of $ for the party, so i want to enjoy the CH, but at the same time, i want us to have that moment of seeing each other for the first time...sigh.... i guess i dont need to decide that right now, but i'm torn...

and i also don't want my guests to see me beforehand, but there's only one path in and out of Coral House to the lake, where we'd be taking pics beforehand and where the guests would be seated... hmmmm

we didn't see each other before, we had the ceremony and then took pics, the photographer was awesome, we had an hour and a half CH for this reason, we took pics for maybe a half hour and had a whole hour to enjoy cocktail hour, I might also add that he took all the BP and family pics first so that they could go off to CH. We used Patken and my pics came out great!

It really depends how how many formal shots versus candids you want. If you want mostly formals, you need some time to do it. I'm really glad we took pics before. My immediate family was at my aunts house taking pics with me. My aunt catered it and we had a good time. It wasn't rushed because we allotted 3 hours. I was at my entire party from start to finish. I even had champagne before the ceremony from the hospitality before hand.

The whole day is so overwhelming-what a shame it is to rush through it.

It seems like everything we've done so far is 'untraditional' so we're going for it and seeing each other before so we can enjoy the entire wedding. greet everyone during CH, and party it up during the reception.

The photographers are suggesting it for your benefit only so don't feel pressured. I dont think they benefit from it.

If you don't want to see each other, then DON'T. Every photographer has done the same to me. I have a bigger gap in between though.
You may need to cut down on the number of pictures u take and miss your cocktail hour. Its been done before, its not the end of the world. Take all your pics with your parents and bms before and leave this time for both of you. You can also take some with people during your reception.

We're taking our pics before! We're not missing 1 minute of anything for pics... we're going to 2 locations before the ceremony to get a variety of pics and then we can enjoy our cocktail hr!!!

Our photographer is going to make the first time we see eachother special.

I will tell you what a photographer told me about that . . . he said you will still have that moment of seeing one another for the first time, but instead of it being in front of 100 or more guests, it will be a private moment between bride and groom (and the photographer and videographer). The same photographer pointed out, that without the audience the reaction might be better than expected. Just something to consider.
