Opinion on hair trial...

Hey girls, I haven't been very active on these boards for the last few months as I was finishing my masters degree. Now that I am graduated, I am back to being wedding obsessed!

So I contacted a hair stylist to get a quote. She said she has my wedding date available and told me the details of the process. Since I don't live on the island, I had to figure out all of the trips I would be taking this summer ahead of time. Once I did, I contacted her to set up a trial. The trial will be about a year before the wedding. She hasn't said anything negative at all, but I was just wondering if anyone thinks its weird how early I am doing a trial... I figured an early start was good because it is almost like I am auditioning them, right? I've been engaged for about 2 years now so I'm used to the weird looks for planning early but this one I'm not sure about.

So I suppose in a nutshell, my question is do you think it's too early for a trial (12 months)? How far in advance did you think about hair and makeup/when do you plan on working on this?

I don't think it's too early because you're doing a trial to see if you like her and if you like her you book her and if you don't you will have to keep looking. If you like her you don't want to put it off until she's unavailable either!

I dont think its too early at all. I booked mine at about the one year mark. I wanted to start looking that early to allow myself enough time in case I had difficulty finding someone I liked plus I thought itd be good to make sure I had someone I was comfortable with booked asap so I know I dont lose them.

I booked mine a little before the one year mark, I don't think it is early at all and plus you might need to do a couple of trials before you find someone or a style you like

I don't think it's too early. I booked my hair girl the day I got engaged with a date TBD lol. I still haven't had a trial because I was waiting to get my dress but I knew who I wanted to use.

I don't think to early at all! I'm doing my hair trial this summer. I already know who I'm using the girl who regularly does my hair she is Fabolous. But for makeup I'm having my trial the first week in July just after the 1 year mark

Do you have your veil/hair accessories? If you don't you may want to wait until you do so you know how it looks with the veil etc on...

I don't think it's too early if you have a specific stylist you like! Also, I like giving myself plenty of time to find other options!

I booked my vendor without a trial. I fully trust her, she does amazing work! My dress is supposed to be arriving in early July so I think I might schedule a trial and go try on my dress sometime next month. (That would be 6 months out)

Thanks all. I do have my veil (I am using my sister's as my something borrowed) and accessories because I did everything early! You made me feel a lot better about going. The trial is for Fire Monkey hair. I heard so many good things about her I wasn't even looking into her because I figured the prices would be so high. Finally I did for some reason, and I was amazed with how reasonable she was priced. So I jumped on it and I cant wait to see how it comes out!!
