Okay, so some of you may know, I am upgrading to a larger room at my hall. Orginally in the smaller room I was going to have my CH start at 6:30, so the reception would be over by 11:30.
Now with the larger room we have to start at 7, which would mean our reception would end at 12 midnight.
Do you think that's too late for a sunday night? Do you think many people would leave early??
Would it make more sense to change it to 1-6pm reception?
FH thinks we should change to Friday night, but we've already booked the photographer, so not sure how or if that would work.
Also keep in mind our wedding day as is, will fall on Mother's Day next year. The reason we thought an evening reception would work for most, is that they could spend time with their mom's on Mother's day too.

If I were you I would change to a Friday night granted that you ARE able to re-schedule the photographer to the same night. Otherwise I would bump it up to an early afternoon wedding on sunday. I think a lot of people wouldn't want to be up that late on a sunday night. (Unless they're like me and are fortunate enough to not work 9-5 )

I think that if you have it on a sunday from 7-12 and people have enough notice, and most people are local, they won't leave early or they will take the day off...maybe some people will leave early..if not then I would say Friday night before a day sunday wedding...

Well, FH's family is all from out of state, so they will be staying over until Monday & a few of my family maybe about 10-12 would leave by 10:30- 11 because they have to drive back to NJ or Upstate (Kingston area), so out of 100 people, I don't think that's gonna be too bad?

This is JMO.
I think that a friday night wedding would be better.
You are competing with Mother's day and that may be a tight spot to put your guests in especially if you are going to fill a larger room.
With that said a friday night reception means your guests wont have to make a choice btw who they want to spend their day with.

Maybe they would want to take the day off and stay local in a hotel

I agree- if you are having the wedding on Mothers day and it is possible to switch to Friday night, that may be better for you as far as guest attendance. Whatever you decide to do the IMPORTANT people will always be there.

I'm doing Sun night, same times. 6:30 ceremony, 7pm CH, 8-12 reception. So many of my friends are doing it as well, I really think it's fine. Some people may leave a little early in anticipation that they'll be tired on Monday but on a Friday, they'll already be tired. JMO but friday weddings are not so good. I'm always exhausted and rushed, no one ever gets to the ceremony (which in my opinion is the most important part) and overall I'm always blah.
