Opinion poll on how invitations should be addressed

Opinion poll on how invitations should be addressed

If you were a guest receiving an invitation, would you think it's terrible if they were not personally addressed by the couple, if they were printed, or if labels were used. I know that wedding etiquette use to say, invitations should be hand addressed by the couple. But, I'd like to see who really cares how they're addressed. Mary MOB

I plan on printing the envelopes individually. I know it's time consuming but if I do at least 10 a day, it won't take that long. I like that better than labels, but see nothing wrong with using clear labels.

in the end, the envelope goes in the garbage (along with the rest of the invitation) so i couldnt care less how it arrived ... as long as its neat, its fine by me any way it comes

That's what I'm doing too....but I wouldn't really care what someone else did!

Michelle, I don't really know what Debi has in mind, but she asked me to do her STD's. I would love to learn calligraphy. Mary MOB

i feel like i have seen a lot of calligraphy used to address wedding envelopes lately...i think that is what i plan on doing...i have a friend who offered to do them...i also think that a company printing them up has become common as well...thanks for sharing too about how in the past people used to prefer to handwrite them...i did not know that...it does add a little personal touch

I don't care how they're addressed. I use envelopes as scrap paper anyway.

Although I do NOTICE pretty calligraphy.

i never thought i cared but i got a recent invitation where they 1. used labels and 2. the font was way too small and I really didn't like the way it looked.

so i'm either going to print directly on or my sister offered to handwrite them - she has great handwriting!!

07er here! I used clear labels with a really pretty font, and was extremely happy with how they came out (and how much less aggravation it was to do it that way!).

As far as I know, no one had any complaints. But then, IMHO, if someone cares that much about how an invitation is addressed.......

We had the envelopes pre-printed with the addresses on them. They will be written in the same script that our actual invitation is written in.

Agreed. Address them by hand. Calligraphy is nice, but optional. Handwritten is fine. And yes, I notice, although I don't mention it to the couple.
