Opinions?

I would like to introduce my grandmother into the reception (as well as my parents, of course). However, at times, due to her age, she can be a bit unsteady on her feet and I would really prefer somebody escort her in because of this (my grandfather passed quite a few years ago). The problem is, I don't know who should do it.

If I had my pick of anyone, I'd probably go with my brother, but he's a GM. Would it be weird to have him walk her in to the reception and then run back out again to be introduced himself with the rest of the bridal party?? He'll probably escort her down the aisle for the ceremony, but that seems different to me.

If I *don't* use my brother to escort her in to the reception who *could* I ask?? Any thoughts are appreciated!

What about having her walk in with your parents?

Do you have a godparent? Or a special uncle or aunt who could enter with her for support?

This! Or have someone who you weren't able to include in your BP but want to have involved. The DJ would say 'Grandmother (name) escorted by (name). You wouldn't want to introduce grandmother and not mention her escort, I don't think.. But I am sure that's a personal preference thing.

Having her walk in with my parents was my first thought as well, but my mother wasn't crazy about the idea. (This is HER mother, BTW...)

I really like this idea, too, but all the people I could think of who fall into this category are female... Even if nobody else was bothered by that, Grandma wouldn't like it, unless it were ME.

My mom is an only child so godparents/aunts/uncles are all on my father's side. My grandmother barely knows them because they all live in the Midwest.

If any of my Grandmother's brothers come, that *might* be a possibility, but I don't know if they're much more stable than she is, and I don't want to get involved in playing favorites if they ALL come or offending any of my (great) aunts...

Ugh! SO complicated!

What if she was announced from her seat and just stood up to wave or something? That way there was a special announcement of her and she was recognized, but it eliminated her walking unsteadily or finding someone to escort her?

Just a suggestions! Hope it all works out!

Maybe the DJ? Just have him come around with the mic and walk across the dance floor with her while announcing her.

At my friends wedding her grandmother was in a wheelchair and she had one of the groomsmen escort her in and then go back out for his entrance. It didn't look weird or anything.

does she have another grandchild who is not in your wedding party that could escort her?

or what about the DJ announcing her name and her table number and having her stand up?

My mom's an only child, so my brother and I are her only grandchildren.

I can ask her how she feels about standing from her table, I just don't want her to feel slighted not getting to walk in to an announcement, but maybe she'd prefer it...

Thank you. It's good to know this is an option. And the way our venue is set up, he wouldn't even have to sneak out the same door everyone is entering through, he can go out a different way and come back in when it's his turn. Maybe.

Lately I've seen a lot of people have a 'something blue,' as a person. This person is usually someone important in ur life but you just didnt ask to be part of the bridal party.. The person can wear a blue dress and maybe do a special job or a reading at the church, etc. Maybe if you have a something blue person, they can walk your grandma down? just a suggestion...
