This might be a weird question but I am feeling badly that I'm not able to invite alot of my work friends and friends to our wedding due to my huge family and my venue only holds a certain amount. We chose a venue pretty far from where my parents live so it's sort of like a destination wedding.
Anyway, what are your thoughts of holding a brunch or a party after your wedding to celebrate and inviting friends? Tacky? or does it scream 'We were B List.' But my friends DO know that my family is huge.
Opinions and thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!

Re: Opinions about Wedding Guests
I'd hold out on making plans for now because you never know, many guests may not make it. Keep your friends on a 'B' list and as people reply no you can send them invitations. I'm sure brides who have done this can offer advice on how to make it obvious they were B listers.

Re: Opinions about Wedding Guests
my mom just went to something like this....she said she thought is was really nice...she did say there were a FEW (very few) guests that didn't think so highly of it, but for the most part anyone that was a close friend/close co-workers understood since the MOG talked to them about it prior to the wedding & explained the situation before invites even went out. good luck!

A party that you are throwing yourselves? I would be skeptical. If someone else were throwing one for you with you and DH as the guests of honor, then have at it.

Re: Opinions about Wedding Guests
Long story.... When my grandma got married back in Russia.. she had 3 weddings. The reason was because my grandfather was in a different town from my grandmothers. Traveling was very hard back than, so, they had Onewedding in her town for her family... One wedding in his town for his family...and the last wedding was in the Downtown area(city) of her town for all of their FRIENDS..which my grandparents say was the best party, b/c they got to party and relax with their friends. The family parties to them were just going through the motions, and just formalities..
So, the moral of the story,,, have as many parties as you want...lol and no matter what..do what you and FH think is right!

Aww, thanks for the advice! My FH was very skeptical but we'll keep it in the back pocket just in case. Thanks for taking the time out to respond.
