Opinions needed!!

How much harder do you think it is to sell your home by yourself (FSBO) than going with realtor. It is just can't see giving them $15K or more.

Has anyone sold their house by themselves?

Honestly, I think you are so much better off with a realtor. You will definitely get more money in the end and you will have so much less aggravation. You'll have more potential buyers.

i have actually heard the oppposite -> whereas homeowners had their house on the market w/ a realtor and pulled it due to the lack of showings. several homes i saw as a FSBO open house the sellers said that they have received more interest in showings then they did w/ a realtor.

i think it might be tough to sell on your own (keeping it constantly clean, answering/returing calls, making yourself available for showings etc...), but if it is priced comparable it will probably go fast.

You could try doing it yourself - maybe by setting a lower price- you will sell it quickly. If it doesn't sell in a couple of months, you could give it to a realtor at that point.

I personally think it is much easier to give it to a realtor so they can handle all the scheduling, selling, negotiating. Plus, you won't have to advertize - and realtors advertize in newspapers, mlsli.com, etc. Also- they can do open houses.

Also- you may just want to bring in a realtor to get an idea of the market value of your house- unless you've already done so- without giving them the listing.
