My FH's ex-wife rented an apartment down the street from his house. I was going to move in the house with him in August. now, I don't want to go. They have 2 kids together and I understand that they have to deal with one another--I am fine with that. They do everything with the kids together and I am fine with that too. She calls him almost everyday which bothers me to a point but I can deal with it. What I can't deal with is she calls all the shots with the kids and I feel like my FH answers to her...now for some reason she moving down the street in July. I feel I accept a lot with her but I am struggling with this and told my FH to sell the house which he agreed to do.
Do you ladies think I am wrong or should I move there anyway? My fear is whenever I see her it will get me angry. I know I will run into her at the store, traffic light, gas station etc. and I don't want this unnecessary anger in our loving relationship.
You are a better woman than I am. My FH ex lives in VA and the mention of her name- I want to punch a wall! Sell the house. I would do the same. You are very accepting- good for you. Good luck! Hope it all works out.

I agree-it's not her problem, it's his. He needs to direct traffic before it gets out of hand.
Why is she moving down the block from you anyway? I think that's crap and she has ulterior motives.

Re: Opinions needed
you have every right to feel you need to move from what you described above! if you fh is willing to move then def. move. you dont want to spend your first year of marriage or years of marriage always worrying or looking over your shoulder...
some people you need to see in small doses!
good luck!

We don't know why she chose to move down the street and did not say anything until after she put a deposit down and was given the key.
Thanks for your opinions..I felt I was being unreasonable.

Re: Opinions needed
SHe is a psycho and If it were me I would sell the house and move into a cardboard box if I had to. You put up with a lot already. I would also worry about the impact this is going to have on the children. Depending on how old they are this might confuse them. You Fh and their mother talk on the phone everyday, and even going out together with the children. If she moves right next door they might start thinking that their parents are going to get back together. At the very least its going to distort their understanding of what a serious, loving relationship is supposed to be like. That woman sounds mentally unstable and she needs to get a grip on realty and realize that her ex is marrying a better woman, and that her life doesn't revolve around him. Good Luck

When I wrote they do everything with the kids, it did not come out the way I meant it (sorry). What I should have said was they do things with the kids such as parent teacher conferences, dr appts as their son has some problems and sees different physicians, graduations, etc. They don't go out together...I would NEVER put up with that....I am nice but not that nice.

I misunderstood! I kept thinking that you really must be a saint to put up with them going out together with the kids. SO I guess the kids aren't confused about their parent's relationship but I still think the ex is disturbed. It kinda reminds me of the desperate housewives situation where that woman moved a few blocks away from Lynette's husband. Who knows what she's up to.

Major props to you for being a confident and reasonable woman who lets your FH have a mature relationship with his ex wife. His kids are extremely lucky to have you marrying their dad. A woman who can act like a mature adult who knows that parents (even when divorced) should still be involved in their kids life and still be a strong parental unit. Also, how lucky are you to be marrying a man who owns up to his responsibilities and is a great father. It sounds like all three of you are making the best out of the situation. I think you should move in with FH and see how it goes. If her living down the street is difficult when you experience it first hand then consider moving but you may find it really not a large concern when it actually happens. Play it by ear.

Oh and best of luck!! I hope this advice was helpful ... unfortanetly a lot of women in your situation wouldnt handle this in a good manner at all and I really respect you for being so great! Many women loose sight of whats really important and make it all about them but Im happy to see you can accept what life throws at you.

Thank you so much for the compliment....I have been told by people that I take too much but I have to....it just feels right to me. He is a great man and I am really blessed to have met him. Maybe I will just see what happens....I have a lot of thinking to do.

I am sorry for the confusion....No I am not a Saint, though I have been called a sucker for the things that I accept
