OPINIONS NEEDED PLEASE...How much should I give???

I'm going to my (1st) cousins wedding in Florida the first week of November, but I'm not really sure how much we should put in the envelope. I've been to an out of state wedding but it was FH best friend so I don't think I can go by that.

Background info: I haven't seen him in over 2 years, and even before then we only saw each other once every year or every two years....so obviously we're not close. The wedding is at a beach resort in St. Pete Beach on the Gulf coast, invitation says semi-formal attire requested.

I've heard that they have to take into consideration that you had to pay for flight/hotel when giving a gift. I don't want to seem cheap but I don't want to give a ridiculous amount of money after spending so much on flights/hotel...so confused please help

I would say for the 2 of you about 250. Thats what I think is reasonable, but you are paying for airfare. I just think enough to cover both your plates.

I guess $200 seems like just the right number. I was thinking around the same also, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being cheap or anything. Thanks alot for your help girls

make sure you bring cash..chances are the bar is a pay bar..I did the same things for my cousin-flew out there and gave her a huge gift and we get to the wedding (also at a country club) and we had to pay for drinks

I had out of town guests and some gave $100, some gave $200. Either way, I understood the amount of money they spent for airfare and hotels.

Melissa- the last time I went to an out of state wedding, I purchased something off their registry (say $50 or so) along with $150 check. That way they have a gift (most people actually bring gifts to weddings outside of NY) and money.
