Opinions on Date?

Opinions on Date?

Hi guys,
I am really torn. I am about to book my RH *YAY*. However, the BM mentioned that if i booked a different day (May 8) he would reduce price 5 pp. I was supposed to book May 22. My concern is that there are a ton of Magnolia trees and flowers on the property and I am worried they wont be in full bloom then. I originally wanted a summer wedding (i HATE the cold - want to move south one day!) but FH wanted a November or October wedding, so we compromised and decided May would be somewhat in between. I am also not sure if 2 weeks would really make a difference in the temperature. Do you think I should bump the day up to save? Also, May 8 is the day before mother's day, don't know if thats a big deal or not ( i think this may be why he discounted). Ahh, I think I am way overthinking this!!!

What would you all do?

since it is the holiday weekend, do you think your guests would have an issue? do you have alot of OOT guests?

i really dont think it shoudl be a problem, especially if you give guests notice.

$5 can add up too. What does FH think?

it depends on your budget! i really wanted a summer wedding as well but we ended up booking for april it was not a big difference but we got some extras if you are willing to switch your date maybe you can ask for extras like i know 5pp will add up in the end but if you really wanted a march 22 wedding 5pp is not a great difference

Don't have a ton of OOT guests but there are a few. FH says he doesn't care either way. I kinda wish he would just make the decision.

the $5 difference i think depends on the amount of guests you are inviting. May is a tricky month...to be honest i wouldnt worry too much about the flowers...you cant really control weather and what not...if you stayed with the original date and didnt get the flowers you're still gonna be upset ya know? so i would base my decision on a budget thing. as for mothers day..i dont think its a huge huge holiday...i would be sure to send out STD's and you should be ok

hi, not sure if you've picked a florist yet but i think mothers day is a pretty big holiday in terms of flowers. might be worth finding out from your florist or any florist if they charge a bit more during that time.

You never know how long flowers will bloom for and when they will bloom so I wouldnt base your decision on that.

How many poeple are you having? I think that would help make the decision. Is the $5 really going to make a huge difference? If not, then maybe stick to the date you really wanted

if the $5 is going to make a difference (like if you have strict budget) then i would go with the earlier may date, but if not go with the later may date... or maybe look into the end of august or beginning of september since you want summer and he wants fall

Re: Opinions on Date?

I am planning on having 150 guests, I totally didn't think about the flowers being more expensive on that day. That might wipe out the money saved on the pp discount! I also realized that there are a lot of college graduations in beginning of May and that some people would not be able to make it. I decided on May 22!! Thanks girls!

Good luck! Glad you could make the decision. I know how hard it is to just make a final decision when you are wavering between two options
