Re: Opinions on RHs

Douglaston Manor: Newly renovated, very pretty inside and out. Golf course is a great place for potential pictures. The outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour area were very pretty. We got an excellent price quote too. On the con side, we weren't personally crazy about the menu choices.

Fox Hollow: Very nice inside and out. We saw the Winter Garden Pavilion which was very nice and would look great all decorated ( it was just too modern for me personally) The outdoor area was pretty. The carriage and the fountain make for nice photo backdrops. However, it can be bit a noisy from the traffic on the main road, so keep that in mind if you want to get married there. The price there was fantastic too. It was the best price we were quoted anywhere and it included a suite at their hotel for the wedding night. Finally, I LOVED their menu options. Tons of choices and lots of stations.

Chateau Briand: Very modern and art deco inside. If that is the look you want they absolutely nail. They also have a nice outdoor area and it was much more secluded than you would expect given that it is on a main road.

If you are interested in getting married in Westchester can I suggest the Castle at Tarrytown? It is is pricey but amazingly beautiful.

Also, I have to add my own hall to the list. I just love Westbury Manor! The grounds are amazing, the rooms inside are so classic and all the food I've had has been outstanding. Great price too. Check out the pictures in my albu, .

I know I was really disappointed because it was honestly the FIRST place on my list :( I am so nervous to go look at other places!!

Re: Opinions on RHs

I just went to a wedding at Fox Hollow and ehhh not so crazy about a few things. The food was just OK, the cake was tasteless. The CH was right next to Jericho Turnpike and yes, you could hear the traffic - a motorcycle, a thumping stereo, an ambulance, the works. Both weddings there shared one bathroom. Not a deal breaker, but not a perk either. However my MOH went to a wedding there about a year ago and loved it. She loved the food. Her CH was inside - a room upstairs from the RH room (you could look down into it or something?). And another friend just booked there and said shes going to be in a new room that's not finished being built yet? That's cool that the room is new, but does that mean that they will be having upwards of 3-4 events there at once?

douglaston manor is nice. saw that yesterday. I'd go check it out.

sand castle I went by there years ago when I was engaged someone else and I remember it being nice.

the venetian unless you are getting married on a friday or sunday, the sat is a 200 minimum. I didn't even bother to go by there because we aren't having 200. I wasn't about to change my date just to maybe have it there.

chateau briand I'm gonna go check out and my prom was there. I remember the food was great. plus years ago when I went by there we were joking about how I love fresh mozz and they gave us some which was amazing.

fox hollow is amazing. I love the smaller room. the garden room? whatever it's called. I just didn't like the ceremony outside near jericho turnpike. if I booked there i'd probably just ask to be inside. last thing I want is some car beeping or motorcycles or something loud. I'd start laughing if that happened and it's just not what I want lol. then again it might be sort of funny.

just check out everything. go in with an open mind. I had a friend tell me how she hated swan club and I didn't even want to go see it because of the bad things she said about it. instead my other friend told me let's go see it with an open mind and i ended up loving it. some of the water in the back of the place or the rear seemed dried up but I'm sure in 2 years it'd be fine and it's not like people are going to inspect the water. they should be having fun and drinking not inspecting the place lol.

they are building more? I was just there about 2 weeks ago and they didn't mention any of that. the traffic is loud outside even with the fountains. I'd hate to have a ceremony and motorcycles go by. I'd start laughing. they should be fixing up somewhere in the back for a ceremony instead of building more rooms!

Our friends got married at Fox Hollow in December and it was amazing! We're booked with Villa Lombardi's so of course I only have good things to say about them too!

Re: Opinions on RHs

I went to a wedding in february at CB and the place was beautiful and food was great. I personally don't prefer the design of the hall but that's just preferce. It has more of a 1920's grand hall theme which wasn't my style. But like I said still beautiful!

I went to CLM and really wasn't impressed. IMO the pictures are better than the real thing. The do have a beautiful ballroom with great view. I also recently took a walk to the pier one day when a wedding ceremony was taking place and someone on a boat screamed 'don't do it!'. Not something I would want to hear during my wedding!

Totally agree with this statement! I went to see Vineyard Caterers and I was pretty sure I would hate it based on the website but we absolutely fell inl ove!

I've been to events or weddings at the following

Windows on the Hudson
Villa Barone Hilltop Manor
Chateau Briand
Fox Hollow Country Club
Chateau La Mer

I am biased in recommending the Douglaston Manor b/c I got married there.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH!

omg. I would die laughing if that was me getting married. the cool thing about CLM is the little boat ride and you showing up on the boat. otherwise that's it. not to bash it because I know a ton of people who got married there. me and my friend just thought the great view was more of the parking lot or at least that distracted us.
