Hun- don't forget it is YOUR wedding!!! If fmil likes this dress maybe she can wear it in a color. Once you start dress shopping you will find so many other dresses that are sooooo much more romantic looking.

Re: opinions on this dress
I like both dresses. If you are considering a Victorian theme, I would go with the first one for sure. But both are very nice! Congrats! ETA: who's wedding is this -- your or your FMIL? Do you and your FH want a Victorian themed wedding? IF you aren't into that sort of thing, people will sense that it's not 'you'. I would do what you are comfortable with. If you want another dress, then tell her that. You can incorporate other victorian type things (like centerpieces) if she's gung ho on the Victorian thing. But FH needs to stress to her that if both you and he do not like or want a Victorian themed wedding then you shouldn't have one as you two are the ones getting married!

This is YOUR wedding...I don't think you have to explain to your FMIL why you wouldn't want to wear a certain dress or have a certain theme.

Although the first one is beautiful, if you are not in love with it, nor you can try it on, I wouldnt order it. With a dress like that (unique) you really need to try it on. JMO.

Re: opinions on this dress
I like the basic bodic style and the lace of the first one, but maybe not the bell sleeves and high neck. Maybe you would like it with alternationd. If they cute off (or cut down) the sleeves and cut off the collar so that it was a sweetheart, it might be more you. I definitely say NO to the hat.
If neither dress is speaking to you, then look some more.

Re: opinions on this dress
DO NOT feel guilty about not wanting a dress that somebody thinks you should have! You want to have a dress that you adore and never want to take off! the dress is supposed to be such a special part of the day so don't let someone else rule that. you're not a bad person to want your own style! the truth is you need to try on a variety of styles too-that dress might look good in a pic but might not look good on you. i had my heart set on one type of dress based on a picture and was shocked to see how bad it looked on ME-i wound up with a strapless which still surprises me-but i love it!! good luck!!

I don't like it, JMO of course! If YOU don't LOVE it, don't get it! It's YOUR wedding, not FMIL's! My mom insisted on me getting a gown with sleeves and my dad told her it's MY decision only......just tell FMIL you didn't feel as beautiful as you do in the 2nd! She'll get over it!

Re: opinions on this dress
DON'T start letting others control your wedding plans NOW....stop it before it STARTS and gets out of control. Tell your mother in law that you have been thinking and you still want to pursue other ideas and options, since the wedding is too far away just yet to make any hasty decisions. Just say that although the Victorian style is appealing to HER, you still want to look around and there are some other styles you are interested in as well. Ultimately, it is YOUR wedding and you have to be firm with what you want. It's hard to do, because everyone is so excited...and willing to help, and you don't want to burt their bubble. just be diplomatic, and keep her involved.

I really like the first dress! I think its very pretty and perfect for a victorian wedding. If you're having a victorian wedding, that would make it. However, if you're only getting it to make FMIL happy, then YOU won't be. Did you have an e-party yet? Coud you do a tent victorian e-party with that dress (you can rent a costume)

Re: opinions on this dress
Maybe is the old southern belle in me, but I think that first dress is MARVELOUS!
Theme or no theme.
I think its so classic and danty. For one thing, you'll have a uniquely elegant wedding. A dress like that would demand respect and the rest of the bridal party's outfits would be forced to compliment it. It's a big task, but I think it would be wonderful to see.
I think it's gorgeous.
You could always go for dress two as well, I mean it's not ugly, but I like things different.
JMHO.

I like the second one the 1st one looks like a dress for an older woman, the second is cute, pretty, very elegant. I VOTE # 2 all the way
