Re: Opinions on this price for phone service please
I don't currently have a landline, but I know my friend uses IDT and pays $39.99 for the same package.
We're thinking about getting a broadband phone connection that runs through the internet. For $19.99 a month, we can get unlimited local, long distance and western europe and all the calling features. First three months are free. Check out www.lingo.com.

it's not horrible but if it's the only service you can use, not much you can do, I guess. They must have a contract w/ the company.
What company is it? If they have a website check and see what they offer to see if you're getting a better deal.
Actually I use 10 10 220 for long distance calls - I think they are one of the cheapest (or 10 10 987 - DH uses it when calling home and 30 minutes is about $2.00)

$54.99 is high, and also don't forget that that's probably before taxes. I know IDT comes to over $50 after taxes.AHH! we just got optimim voice at the new apt. before that, and here in queens we use USA Datanet for long distance. It works similarly to 10102020. You dial a # first. However, it's really cheap. it's $.10 per minute for the first ten minutes up to $.99. So yoyu can talk for te hours for $.99 We used this when FH was in college and it brought our phone bills from $300 to $30 for long distance and we talked so much more...over 2.000 minutes a month! There;s no per call charge and o hidden fees. I think for outside of the east coast it comes to a max per charge call of $1.99.
