I want to order personalized notecards which along with using for personal use - I will probably use for thank you cards for interviews I go on this Spring in school districts. Ideally, I would like to get ones with my first and last name - but I am still using my maiden name right now for business and it seems kind of silly to get cards printed up with my maiden name. Do you think it's too informal to send a thank you card that just has my first name on the front? Of course I'd be writing a formal thank you note inside and signing with my full name. What do you think? Thanks!!

Well, I know you are using your maiden name now, but will you be using your maiden name when you go for your interviews? I would say to get them with your married name if you plan to use it in the spring for interviews.

I am probably going to continue to use my maiden name until I can finally get a perm job - prob use maiden name for a leave - since that's how I am known in the field now. That's why I wanted to know if getting TY cards with just my first name was appropriate.

I wouldn't use my first name. I would probably just get them with my maiden name, but I wouldn't order that many.

In my personal opinion, as a teacher, I wouldn't use stationary to write a thank you to an administrator of a school district. I would write it as a 'business thank you' on resume paper. I had worked in the career center of my university during grad school and it was my understanding that that was the proper thing to do. I wonder what other teachers have done.

to be honest I never wrote a thank you (just because my interviews happened one right after the other going up the levels- yes I was one of the few lucky ones that didn't have to spend lots of time looking, but it was a LONG time ago). My DH has been on the interview committee for our building and says that wether or not you send a thank you doesn't matter in the interview process. They make their decission as soon as you leave the room. They never read them- as the secretary gets them and opens them before it reaches the principal and it just goes into a file for the interviewers. It makes no difference. If you feel better in sending them, I would use the name you are going to be interviewing under.
good luck!

I guess every district is different! I know in my mother's district they look for a thank you note and pay attention to grammar and spelling. If my mother even looks at a cover letter with a mistake, she throws it out!
