opinions please

how much do you all think is too much to spend on a wedding gown?

do you have a # you wouldn't ever go over?

or do you think its worth any amount if you LOVE it???

I just called the designer of my gown and found out it is $3950.00

I am in love with it and I think it is the only one that will do I hate that I found it now :( I don't know what to do. That is so much I could spend it better but OMG is the gown perfect

Re: opinions please

I think that it all depends on you and your budget. I personally could not afford to spend that much on a dress and the other thing I think about is that it is only for one day and there are plenty of other beautiful dresses that are a lot less and are just as beautiful. But like I said at the beginning it is entirely up to you and what you can afford. It is a beautiful dress!

That is beautiful! Is it a Liancarlo gown?

If you could afford it go for it. If it is out of your budget then keep looking, you will certainly find something similar at a better price. Also, try Demetrios gowns. I noticed a lot of their gowns are similar to higher-end designer gowns.

Another option is to purchase during a trunkshow where the salon/designer usually offers a discount.

That dress it gorgeous. I think it all depends what you want to splurge on, and if you have a certain budget. IF you want to splurge on the dress, you can save on other things,. Or if you look around maybe you can find something like it that is not as expensive. You never know.

I think it's beautiful but I know I couldn't spend that much on a dress....I budgeted $1500 and came in much lower than that. But hey! It's YOUR wedding! But you do have a lot of time to look...I'd do a bit more shopping. If this dress IS the ONE then you'll know it after a few more dress try ons

I personally wouldn't go over $1500 for a dress. Only because I really don't have the money to splurge on a dress that expensive. I would go dress shopping, and see what you can get. If you still like that dress at the end, then buy it. (but don't put yourself in debt over it).

Re: opinions please

I personally COULDNT spend that much, simply because I dont have it. It hin its rellative, if you could afford it , seriously, no-one can, but if you could manage it, then sure, why not, its your dream dress. I couldnt spend more then like $800 on mine ( but ended up with two dresses) ANYWAY, I think that dress is amazing, I would look around, make sure its not at any salon for less, and then see if your budget can afford it. Its not that people think 'oh you spent too much'..who cares, it only matters whther you have the money to buy it. If I did, I WOULD!

Re: opinions please

The gown is beautiful but that's an awful lot of $$. What about looking at less expensive designers and seeing if they have something similiar in style?

if you don't go into the red over it and you're willing to not have that money for other things, i say go for it. my MOH had a dress that was more than that, she just LOVED it, and she could afford it. if you can, than go for it!

Re: opinions please

I could NEVER afford that BUT!!!! See if you can find it at a bridal store... Mine was $2600 and I bought the sample for $1600!! I saved $1,000... It can be done.. just ask... At first I said I love this dress but all I can spend is $1,500. She said.. Oh well I cant come down that low... I politely said, thats too bad.. I really like it... but I just cant pay that much. Ill have to keep shopping. She said let me go see how much theyll do... She came back and said $1,700... I said... I just cant do it.. (I really didnt want to spend over a thousand) So she said o.k. let me see if hell so 1600. And I got a big YES!! My dress is awesome!! I NEVER thought I could afford it and to think... I was thinking in my head how I could come up with $2,600!!! All I had to do was say a few words and I saved $1,000!!!! Good Luck hun!!!!!

Re: opinions please

I totally understand your dilemma. When I first started shopping for gowns I thought I would be able to keep myself down to $1500 easily. There are just so many beautiful gowns in and below that price range, I figured, there's got to be something I'll love for less.

But I guess we can't choose what we fall in love with. I hated all the gowns I tried on in that price range (on me). And only liked gowns that were way out of my original budget. The gown I ended up falling in love with was around $4000 and I just figured it out of the question for me. But the salon really worked with me on the price... even called up Rani, the designer on the phone and dropped the price over $800!! So you never know and it definitely doesn't hurt to shop around for a bargain or haggle til there's no tomorrow.

Looking back, I know that if I had the money to blow (not that I did by any means) I would have gladly paid up to probably around $8000 for THE gown. You only have one wedding day and you want to feel amazing so you need a gown that you feel amazing in. It will be in all your pictures forever and it WILL be the center of attention the whole day. That's how I felt anyway and that's how I was able to justify spending way too much on my gown.

That said, I say you should also keep looking around because you do have alot of time!

I guess I am in the minority, but I say go for it...

My dress was $4,500., but they dropped it down to $4,000. because I got the sample.

I know it is a lot of money, but I love the dress, it is so unique. It was THE dress!

I have never seen a dress like it, I have never seen it advertised and I can't find a picture of it anywhere on the internet.

I am so excited about wearing it!

When I put it on, it seemed like it was made for me because it fit so perfectly.

When you know, you know. If you get the dress, just scrimp on some other things instead.

I say go for it!

IF you have the $$ to spend - SPEND IT ON YOUR GOWN !!! - You can always cut a corner somewhere else - (Invitations, flowers, favors - whatever) It's absolutley worth the money !!!

Re: opinions please

I think if you are truly in love with it, then buy it. I know a lot of people say its for one day and they can't justify spending that much, but thats the thing, it is for one day, one VERY special day that you will remember for the rest of your life. So what better day to spend that kind of money, if you have it!! It is a truly gorgeous dress!! Good Luck with your decision!!!

Re: opinions please

I also say go for it...I think how much each of us will spend on a gown depends on our overall budget, on our financial situation, on whether or not we're getting any help from family for the wedding and on finding the 'one' dress.
I have NOTHING to spend on a dress, luckily my mom's a great seamstress and pattern maker and is making my dress - she's also buying the material, so I got very lucky. But even with nothing to spend, if my mom couldn't come through (we live in different states) then I would have had to come up with $1K to buy a dress similar to the one I fell in love with (all lace!)...so if someone with a zero budget can come up with $1k...that should be equal to someone with a $2k budget coming up with $4k...it is only for one day, but it's for the most important day of your life...and you can always pass it down to your children. If you have the extra cash, or can come up with it...go for it! Enjoy and be happy!
