Opinions Please........

Kinda long, I'm sorry........
We went to Men's Warehouse last night for measurements. I am aware and explained that I knew that we have PLENTY of time, but we have an issue with my brother who is in the military. He is home on an 18 day leave from his tour in Iraq. He's leaving on Tuesday and will not even be returning to the States until sometime between February and April of next year. Since he is stationed in North Carolina, there is a possibility he may not be back to NY until the night before the wedding. While he was home I needed to have his measurements taken so that we can order and pick up his tux for him. I explained all of this to the girl yet all she kept saying to me was, but you have plenty of time. I said we weren't ready to pick out or order tuxes, but planned on getting them through Men's Warehouse and wanted my brother's measurements on file. I offered to give any information and/or deposits needed. After about 5 minutes of confusion and a more senior salesman being called over, the girl finally took the measurements. She told me she didn't want to keep the info or enter it into their computer since it was so far away and was afraid they would lose them . She wrote them down on a piece of paper and gave them to me.

The problem is now I have a bad taste in my mouth about using them for the tuxes. The reason we chose them in the first place is because the BM and 2 other GM live in the city. We are in Suffolk. We figured Men's warehouse would be easier and more convenient for everyone. Has anyone else had problems with them? Can anyone suggest someplace else to use? Or do you think I am just over reacting………….

i'm sorry i don't have any other places. i've not begun looking for tuxes yet.

i don't think you were overreacting, that lady was not listening to you, nor was she being very compassionate and understanding. kind of ridiculous that she is in a customer service position. (altho, she'd fit right in at david's bridal!). don't be deterred if men's warehouse is what will make your life easiest. what if you gave it one more try with someone else, and if they give you the same attitude, then go to the next place on your list. i'm sure the girls here have some great suggestions for you, as they always seem to come through in the clutch. wish i could be more helpful.....

I went there and didnt have the best expeience just b/c they didnt have any tux's to try on, and we had an idea of what style we wanted, but the guy said my FH shape doesnt look good in that style.. he said to try it on someplace else then come back and order whatever we liked that he tried on at another place!
Needless to say we didn't go back- we used RSVP in Commack, and they have a location in BAy Shore, but all anyone needs to do is get their measurments done even at the dry cleaners, and call them in. they dont actually have to go there if there not from around this area.

So I'm not the only one with bad luck there. I assumed since they are a nation-wide company, they would be reputable, but the girls comment about losing the measurements and the other salesman saying 'yeah, things have a habit of being misplaced around here' didn't sit well with me.

That sounds like an unpleasant experience to me - i cant understand why it was such a big deal for them. Im sure it only took a few minutes. At least you have the measurements in case you decided to go somewhere else.

That's what I'm thinking at this point. Maybe we should consider going somewhere else.....

we went there 4 months before our wedding, and they turned us away for measurements..so we never went back!

While I know they aren't just about renting tuxes, one would wonder how they continue to be in business if they regularly turn people away.

Thanks to all for your advice. I think when the time comes, we will steer clear of Men's Warehouse
