Opinions Please

Opinions Please

We were planning to book a February engagement party soon. Now my mom is saying she's nervous about us having a party in February in case there's a snow storm. The whole reason we wanted to have it then was to have a Valentine's Day theme (to have it the Saturday before vday). Would you be so worried that you'd change the date or do you think it's worth taking a chance? Honest opinions please!

Take a chance! You could have snow in december and march too...I say go for it...if you did it in the summer it could torrential downpour!

fh and i were also looking to throw our engagement party around january or february as well.. but when we looked on the past few years weve had some pretty bad storms. i was worried since im going to have people coming from all over the island, i dont want anyone to have to come out, god forbid the weather is terrible. so were waiting till april/may. but thats just us. i mean theres a really good chance that it wont be stormy at all and most likely it will just be cold but sunny. i would say go for it since you have the theme picked out. i just personally dont even want to deal with the stress of 'what if there is a storm' because i dont need anymore stress in my life. so its just easier for me to wait till spring when i wont have to worry about it.

i agree with lauren. its ridiculous to change the date of something because of weather. In the winter you could have a snowstorm, in the spring you could have torrential downpours, in the summer you could have heat exhaustion temperatures, and in the fall you could have hurricanes.

do it when you want to do it...take a risk.

i was going to have an e-party in feb, actually i wanted to have it feb 16 or 17... it's the sat/sun after valentines day... only because everything goes on sale from v-day... so it would be nice to save some money... i would totally go for it....

TAKE THE CHANCE!!!! Try to have it in a central location so if the weather doesn't cooperate at least people will attempt to make it. I traveled in a snow storm for a friend...it took me hours but I did it so people who love you guys will be there no matter what. Go for it!! I love the idea and the theme......Valentines day is when FH proposed to me!!!

Take the chance! It's no different than a winter wedding- you may or may not have snow - either way unless it's terrible your family and closest friends are still going to come.

You can't base your party around the weather, there could always be something if you based it on that. Defintely stick to your Feb party it sounds like a cute idea!

I'd say go for it and if it snows, it snows. People will still go out when it snows.

That said, last year FH & I planned a trip to Florida w/ Jetblue and a snowstorm on a Wednesday caused a HUGE problem at the airports and our Saturday flight was canceled. It would only be a problem for some out of towners if you are inviting any....but local people should DEF be able to come in snow.

I would still book it in Feb if that is when you want it. My b-day is the end of January and it snowed on my Sweet 16 and it didn't stop anyone from coming.

Honestly, the way weather was last year we didnt even have a valentines day! I would be super careful. Thats aroudn when theyre predicting the snow...

However, if you do it in a close enough proximity that everyone can get to.. it may be fine and you may luck out!!
