Opinions please

Heyy girlies... Ok so I decided I need a little bit of help being that my family has been tired of hearing the same thing out of my mouth for 1 mth now.
My wedding date is April 17. I extremely nervous about the weather for that date although I know weather for any mth. is unpredictible. Im sure we all know that for all of our weddings we want our day to be perfect. Another thing is I feel like I have no time to plan. All I have done was booked my reception hall..... Im very hesitant to book with any thing else because 1. I dont know if I going to keep that date and 2. I want everything to come out nice so I have been waiting until something else or better comes along.
Dont think Im crazy but another thing I feel is that April has no signifance for the both of us. Plus if i have a bridal shower and bachlorette party its going to be so cold !!!!
I feel like changing my date to August or Sep. I will have more time to plan and colors are more easier to choose and I wont feel so rushed.
Its been hard for me to plan anything at this moment. Im a nurse and I work 11p-7a five days a week so when Im home I feel like all I do is sleep.
What would you do ? Leave it or keep it .....
Thanks and sorry so long !!!

well if you aren't excited about the date (which it seems like you aren't) i would change it ... it doesn't matter the weather you can't predict that as you stated but you can choose a date that you will like ... if April is giving you this much stress now then i would change it ... wedding planning is supposed to be fun not a huge stress headache .... jmo ...

If you're not excited about the date you should change it, but you do still have plenty of time! April '09 is plenty far away to plan a great wedding--I have only been planning since August '07 for my June '08 wedding and everything seems to be working out really well so far, all major vendors booked and I haven't missed out on anything I wanted yet!

Best of luck whatever you decide to do!

if you don't feel confident in the date then change it (IMO) you will only stress more as you get closer to a date you are not comfortable with!!

i had wanted an october 2008 wedding but then moved it into september 2008. i started my planning in Aug 2007 and had no problems booking vendors.

best of luck you will be fine and have a wonderful day

Relax! First of all, you have plenty of time to plan. I basically planned my wedding in 4 months or so (we will only be engaged for less than 9 months when we marry). So you have PLENTY of time between now and 2009. Just do a little at a time, especially being so busy.

As far as the date being wrong, there is nothing wrong with changing it if possible. But also, it sounds like you are very worried and putting pressure on yourself for everything to be perfect. If you change the date, will there be something that you don't like about that month as well? Don't put too much pressure on yourself for perfection!

I changed my date after I first became engaged because of family and my own job. My FH and I are both teachers, and a summer wedding was much more feasible for the two of us.

If you are unhappy with the month, then change it. However, like others have said before me, you have more than enough time to plan for your wedding since it is over a year away. I've had a 2 year engagement, so I was in the same place as you are.

If you are not happy, maybe you should check out other dates...and if you wind up booking a later month, then you will have more time to plan

Hi and welcome to the boards!

Regarding April, I wouldn't worry about the weather for your wedding day and/or having a cold night for a bachelorette party at all!

My sister and BIL got married on April 18, 2004 and chose the same date as my parents' wedding date. They had a beautiful day!! It was mostly sunny. Considering everyone was all dressed up, the weather wasn't too hot or cold, so no one was either sweating or freezing.

We had her bachelorette party in late February. She wanted to go out to dinner in Times Square (that's where he proposed) and then we went to a club afterwards. She wanted a small gathering of only a few close family and friends, and a few people couldn't make it but it was all ok. We're all really not club people, so it wasn't a big deal either.

And think of it this way, if the weather decides to be uncooperative, there are some beautiful pics you can take with you and FH sharing one umbrella (of course being careful to keep your dress from getting wet), standing inside in front of a window to have raindrops sliding down in the background, etc. I've seen some absolutely stunning photos on LIW from brides who took pics in the rain. Snow may be a bit more difficult, but by mid-April, it's usually more like flurries, so I wouldn't stress too much over it.

As for changing the date to August or Sept, think if you could handle the possibility of a heat wave. I know I couldn't deal with that at all, I get very dizzy when it hits high temps, and I can't imagine sweating in makeup and a dress, so I chose November. But September would be lovely too. You could do the fall colors, if you're concerned about what to choose.

I'm including an outdoor pic of my sister's wedding so you can see what mid-April looked like.

Good luck to whatever you decide to do!!

If you are unhappy with the date, then change it. BUT like the other girls said you do have more then enough time to plan for it, DH and I were engaged for 2.5 years and only booked our hall within a few months, every other vendor wasnt booked until about 9 months before. Dont make yourself crazy to get it all booked now. Speak to your hall, see what kind of consequences you will have by changing your date, then go from there. The only thing we knew was we wanted a spring wedding that was it, May, June that didnt matter we just wanted spring. Think about what your vision for your wedding is then go from there
