FH has a church in South Jersey that he grew up in and said we could consider for our ceremony. The dilemma is that he doesn't like the pastor of the church (I really don't care for her much either). He said that we should ask to rent the church but without the pastor. We do not have a home church at the moment (nor are interested in joining for the sake of a ceremony) and the church I grew up in has a terrible new pastor and all other ministers I knew from sister churches have since retired. So, the question is: Is it rude or in poor manners to ask to rent the church without the minister? (Please note my FMIL, FFIL, FBIL, FSIL, FC(ousin)IL all attend this church and we visit from time to time when in the area & the church family would be invited to the ceremony)
FH says we should survey to see what others think of the situation. So, opinions & suggestions please!
P.S. In the same conversation we were talking about if you can rent a church without using the church's minister at all & bring your own. Opinions on this would also be appreciated.

It doesn't hurt to ask, but I'm pretty sure it's an unusual request. *I* wouldn't do it, but I'm an Irish Catholic so take what I say with a grain of salt, I know other religions are a lot less strict.

I was just thinking that since she's known FH since he was about 12 (now 28) & is pretty close with his family that it would be rude to rent the church, have the festivities & invite everyone but her.
