Okay, FH asked me yesterday if there was someone else I wanted to add to my brida party, b/c there is a friend of his he wants to add. I said yes, there are a few contendors. And here they are...
1-Deb (lives in MI)
2-Cindie (lives in IL)
3-Jeanny (lives in NY, but we've lost touch over the last 2 yrs...FH says to me 'Not that I don't want you to ask her, but look at her track record'- True, but I have known her for ~15 years)
4-Fred (lives in NY, but is a guy--I have known him for about 10-12 yrs, gets along GREAT w/ my FH and has been jokingly asking when he needs to get fitted for his bridesmaid dress)
Now, the out of state ones, I talk to on occassion, and I myself have been an OOT BM, and it's NOT easy on the pocketbook. I'd love the have either of them, but feel awkward asking them to shell out $200 for a dress, but $65 for alterations, then airfare to NY and hotel in NY .
Please let me know what you'd do!!
TIA!!
-Jill

Re: Opinions Please!!!!
I vote for Fred...he sounds like a riot and someone who will make you laugh during the day (so important)...another option is to not add anyone. The numbers DON'T have to match...we have 4 guys and 3 girls...one lucky guy gets to walk with 2 ladies!

He is always good for a fun time! I had considered just leaving my side as is, but think Sebastian wants it even. Sometimes he's more anal than me! That sounds bad!!
If I did choose Fred, do I just have him walk back down the aisle solo after the ceremony?

You don't have to pick someone else just to even it out. It is perfectly acceptable to have an uneven # of BM and GM.

I voted for fred too, seems that the only reason you were not sure about him was that he was a guy. As far as adding though, why don't you just keep your party uneven. There is no rule that states you have to keep them even. If you are not sure, than just let your FH add and you don't. Our bridal party is uneven and so was my sisters. I have one less girl and my sisters was the opposite. She just had our brother walk in two girls and it was fine.

I agree with David's Bride.
I'm going to have more guys then girls, its perfertly fine to have an uneven bridal party.
I wouldn't put someone in the bridal party just to even out the numbers.

Re: Opinions Please!!!!
I'd say keep your bridal party as it is-it doesn't matter if it is uneven-although fred would get my vote if you had to have it even

Re: Opinions Please!!!!
I say only invite someone to be a bridesmaid if they truly will be excited to be one and can afford it. I am having one more on the guys side than on the girls side. What we will do is have one of the groomsman dance with his long-time girlfriend for the spotlight dance so that everyone has a partner. As for walking down the aisle. I think I'm having my cousin Jeff (who is a groomsman) escort my mom while my dad gives me away. But if you didn't have an option like that, then you could have one BM with two groomsman (I'm sure one of your BM wouldn't mind having two guys escort her! One of my BM volunteered for that, before I realized we didn't need to since my mom needs an escort anyways).

You don't have to have an equal amount on both sides... Dave and I are probably going to have more guys than girls, But my vote goes to Fred too!!!

I agree!!! I picked exactly the girls that I wanted, not thinking about the numbers... if you want all those people in the bridal party, ask all, if not dont feel obligated to add more people just so you have the right numbers!

He can walk solo, or you can have one lucky girl be walked by 2 guys.

Re: Opinions Please!!!!UPDATED AFTER TALKING W/ FH!!
Thank you all!! I talked w/ FH about the options and also told him it's okay if we have an odd #. At first he said, 'No, I want the sides even' I then told him about asking Fred, who I would have stand on my side, but wear a tux (obviously, though he does have the legs for a dress!!! ) I explained that if we had Fred, he and the additional friend that FH is adding would walk back down the aisle solo. I also explained how it'd work if we had more guys than girls, that we coul dhave 2 guys escort 1 girl. He FINALLY broke down and said it's okay if the sides are not even! FINALLY! Thanks again for the input. I was okay w/ the odd #, he wasn't!
