Would it look terrible if I put my MOH in black and my girls in a pastel color??

Re: Opinon
why would you want to do that?
i'm SURE if you wanted to do it, you could absolutley find ways to make the girls all coordinate and blend nicely together! (flowers, ribbons, extras, etc...)

Honestly...without actually seeing it in person I'd have so say that it sounds like it wouldn't flow. Kinda like she would stick out of everyone there. Sorry...just my opinion.

Re: Opinon
no need to apologize - just wanted people's opinion - my MOH is much older and heavier then everyone else in the BP including myself and I am trying to figure out something that would make her feel comfortable.

Look at Eroxgirl's pictures. Her MOH and Best Lady are in Black and the rest of the BMs are in Champagne. I thought it was gorgeous.

IMO putting her in black is going to make the fact that she's those things even more obvious. Why don't you look into separates? Your MOH can wear long sleeves, cap sleeves, a shawl/wrap, an aline skirt and your BP can wear strapless, halter, and straight skirts.

That's what I originally wanted to do - but everyone is giving me grief about the color - they all think she needs to be a dark color and the colors I want are light - like a pastal yellow - so I don't know what to do?

Re: Opinon
Great Ideas, Donna.
As a person who was until recently plus size, I'd like to interject on a few things.
There is nothing I hate more than wearing cap sleeves. They just scream out - LOOK AT MY ARMS! LOOK AT THEM! THEY'RE RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! AREN'T THEY GROSS?!
I'd prefer to be sleeveless if my choice were cap or none.
My suggestion, now that I know why you want to give her something different, would be to take her shopping for a dress in the same color; IE same color different dress. That way she is dressed differently because she's the MOH, not because she's heavy.

Who is 'everyone'? What does SHE say? Ask her what she wants to wear, how she feels about the situation.
Let her choose with your guidance/approval. That's really your best bet.

Re: Opinon
what does your MOH want? Her answer may settle it all. Also if you want pastels what about different shades of it - put all of your BMs in the lighter pink and MOH in darker pink for example.
And PrincessRose I hear you about the cap sleeves, I should've said 3/4

Re: Opinon
What about if your MOH wore a black dress that had a pastel sash, and the other girls wore pastel dresses with a black sash?

I agree, OR have your MOH in black and your BM's in pink...
Maybe you could have your flowers tied with a satin black ribbon....

Re: Opinon
thanks everyone for your advice - I'll figure something out - it's not only because she is heavier that I want to put her in something different - she is much older and dosen't want to wear a youthful bridesmaid dress - she wants something that fits her and her age. Which I totally understand.
I was always a fan of the black and pink combo so maybe I'll think about that.
Thanks again.

That's what I was going to say. You could also have this type of affect with opposite wraps, or the two tone bodices.

Re: Opinon
Hi! I had a similar situation with my maid-of-honor, as she felt more comfortable in darker colors...so, the BM's are wearing a sky blue dress with a navy band at the waist and my MOH is wearing a completely navy dress...that way it coordinates, but everyone is happy with their dresses...plus the MOH got to pick out the dress she wanted to wear since no one else needed to wear the exact same dress. Good luck!

Re: Opinon
I don't think I would like that. - Unless it was 2 unobtrusive colors like Black and Champagne or something. - Black and like, lilac or pale blue, I wouldn't like - But hey, that's me.......my whole BP is in black ! - I'm not very artsy !!

Re: Opinon
I have an idea for you- HAve your moh get a dress with a thick sleeveless or a halter w/ thick straps - My bridal party has size 2 to size 18 in it and that was the concensous with the curvier girls.
Definelty A-line-
Here's what we used:The middle dress in pic1(seperates)
You could also use the halter top or the thick sleeveless straps like these: That way the straps don't look lost on her. I think if you follow those guidelines- she may feel ok even in the pink.
