Optimum Voice Digital Phone?????

I'm moving (finally) from queens to massapequa park next week and I was looking at the cablevision site and saw that they have Optimum Voice digital phone out where we will be, it seems like a good deal, $34 a month for everything. Our phone bill is always so high, I wanted to look into getting this.

So does anyone use this service from OPtimum or know anything about it? Are there hidden charges? Thanks!

OV works through your cable modem, like optimum online, which is why it is inexpensive (Cablevision doesn't have to pay any phone companies since the service runs through their network). It works very well, and there are NO hidden charges, but right now you can only call nationwide (no overseas calls yet). Also, if there happens to be a cable outage, you will lose your phone service. I know several people who use OV and they love it, they just have a 'back-up' line through Verizon in case of emergencies. You can set up a service through Verizon called 'life line'. It's $10 a month, just for the service, anytime you use it it costs extra, but it's good to have in case anything happens to your OV line.
