HAHA
Marines

My Dad's Navy... we used to always say the Marines go in first.. (I won't finish the rest of what was said) and I've got a cousin who's a Marine who proudly declares they're first.

These days though it's a little blurry. Does sending in a carrier count as 'going in first' or parachuters (sp) ?? I guess it sorta depends.

Marines were always considered the first because they went from sea to land and as most of our military actions were generally 'overseas' and before overland imagine could verify safe place for parachuters to land and so forth the Marines were the first line to go in.

Marines are 'first to fight'

Technically Marines,

But in todays military with SEALS, SPEC OPS, RANGERS and DELTA FORCE lots of people go in first you just don't hear about it as often.

For example my husband gets a call in the middle of the night, says goodbye, flys off does what he needs to do then comes back with no mention of what they did because its all secret.

Normally about 3-4 months later you hear about it because someone else is there.

But I believe that Marines are called the President's Own because they are who he sends first.

Whatever though, they are all heroes in the long run, even those who aren't deployed and are helping out on the homefront.
