How do you decide on the order of your bridesmaids walking down the aisle? Is it by closeness to the bride? or is it by height?

It's usually done by height. So when you stand and take pics it's a smooth line, otherwise it might look choppy. You usually pair them with the guys by height also, for the same reason. But you can do it by your closeness to them if you want, if they're all around the same height then it doesn't make much difference anyway. Whatever makes you happy!!

Maybe this is a stupid way of doing it, but they're in the program in alphabetical order and that's the order for how they'll walk down (with MOH being last). That seemed to be the easiest way to do it especially since they're all around the same height (except for MOH, they're all between 5'4' and 5;6'). I'd rather not base it on closeness to me-they're all close friends/family.

I am doing it by closeness. There's not much of a height difference anyways.

I haven't given this any thought, but I'm only have 4 BMs two of which are MOH's. My three sisters and my best friend. I have it in my program that my two sisters (actually step sisters, ages 13 and 16) will walk down (the youngest first) then I'm going to have my two MOH's walk down together.

Honestly - I went by the guys.
All of the groomsmen were DH's brothers except for one which was my brother. The order we decided on was - older to youngest brother. And with that we set the girls up in height to their partner

height and relationships to each other (BM & GM) we want everyone to be very comfortable so we tried to pair those with existing relationships with each other.
but truthfully - heigh dominated our decision.

We are doing it by height because the tallest is 5'10' and the shortes is 4'11' so I want to match the guys up so it doens' look weird.

Everyone is walking down alone - problem solved.
They will walk back paired (one triple) up and by that time, noone will really be paying as close attention, not to mention they walk much faster when they walk in the recessional.
