I am going to shoot myself. I just got off the phone with my fmil. She is all confused about the order of people walking down the aisle. She thinks my way is totally wrong and untraditional...accused me of yelling at her, I wasn't yelling, obviously she has never heard me yell. This is my order tell me if I am awful and wrong: Grooms Grandparents (Father) Grooms Grandmother and Uncle (Mother) Grooms Parents together boy and girl of bridal party x5 moh me and my parents
My fmil wants to be walked down by her son a groomsman and then wants her same son to walk her mother down with the Uncle and then the same son to go and walk his bridesmaid down. She believes that she should be seated by an usher, that is the only way, it is the right way. Are my groomsmen supposed to seat people for the ceremony. Is that necessary? It is at Giorgios. Please help me, sorry so long. TIA

Re: Order of Processional
my mom has the same requirement as you FMIL, that is, my two brothers will usher in my 2 widdowed grandmothers as the last 2 people to be seated and then walk back and walk with their respecive BMs. So our processional will be Grandma A with 2 brothers Grandma R with 2 brothers both brothers walk back Rabbi and Cantor FH with his parents Bridal party Me with my parents to the center of the isle and then FH walks back alone and gets me from the center and we walk together for the last 1/2 of the isle. My parents walk in front of us. We as a couple are the last to walk down the isle. I hope this helps. It was difficult for us too. ETA; YES, WE ARE HAVING USHERS SEAT PEOPLE
The ushers/groomsmen will take womens arm's and direct them to their seat. If it is a couple the ushers will take the woman's arm and her male guest is supposed to walk directly behind them. I hope it works.

Re: Order of Processional
Your way sounds perfectly fine to me. If she was just another guest I could understand and see why she would need to be escorted. I dont know the real way to go about it, usually its just the parents and they walk alone...in this case mom and uncle. Sorry not much help

Re: Order of Processional
I don't think either of you are wrong. I would just do it, and make her happy. It's no big deal. It's about 5 extra minutes of 'ushering'.
I've learned to choose my battles....

Re: Order of Processional
I guess I just don't really understand why she needs her other son walking back and forth three times, (he was only put in the wedding party after we were begged by fh parents). Also is it normal for my fh's father to walk down alone while everyone else walks escorted....

Re: Order of Processional
I had all of my groomsman except the best man and Anthony seating people. When it came time for the wedding I had the BM walk down by themselves - took care of all problems!

Re: Order of Processional
My FMIL wants her son (the groom) to walk her down.
My Mother and I want my brother to walk her down.
So groom will go down with his mom and my brother will walk down my mom. He will then go down the side aisle and pick up one of my best friends and bridesmaids.
The best man is going to walk down my two grandmothers too.
I don't think it's such an unusual request to have a groomsmen walk a few others down.

Re: Order of Processional
There are different ways to do it. We got married in a church, so the priest told us what to do. ( That was SO helpful.)
We only had a bestman & groomsman, so we had my brother as an usher ( but not really in the bridal party) The non- best man's groomsman was DH's cousin.
First, my brother & the groomsman waited at the door & sat some people ( mostly ones they new) & handed out programs.
Then, the groomsan escorted DH's (and his) grandma. She has trouble walking, so grandpa also helped.
My brother escorted my grandmother, with my grandfather following behind.
Groomsman escorted DH's mother, with DH's father following. Groomsman then went back to the entrace of the church.
My brother escorted my mother. And then took his seat next to her. DH & best man were dowsntairs in the preist's office. They came up , follwed the priest to the alter , the grooman joined them.
Then, the bridemaid entered alone, then the MOH & then the me & my father.
It is the traditional Christian way for the bridesmaid's to enter alone & the traditional Jewish way for them to be escorted my groomsman. You could do either since you are getting married at the hall.
Hope this helps.

Re: Order of Processional
I think that the way you want it done is correct. I see the parents walk down the aisle first all the time. Traditionally, the GM escort women to their seats before the ceremony. Most people don't do this anymore.
