Order of Processional

What is the order of the processional at the church? Whose parents go first---bride's or groom's?

The groom's parents are seated first. Then the bride's mother is seated, which cues the processional to begin. Traditionally the bride's father is seated after he gives the bride away.

Thanks for your response. If the bride's family is hosting the wedding, shouldn't the bride's mother enter the church first? Does the ceremony music start playing from when the parents enter the church?

No, after the groom's parents!

Remember, the maid of honor goes last of the bridesmaids and the bride goes last of all... That's why the bride's mother would be seated later. I don't think the processional music starts until the bride's mother is seated, but there would be other soft music playing. The seating of the parents isn't really part of the processional.

If you have grandparents, it goes groom's grandparents, bride's grandparents, then groom's parents, and then bride's mother.

I am most certainly not the authority on this, its just my opinion but I would think that the grooms mom should go first and then the bride's mom...kind of like how the BMs go before the MOH...

ETA: sorry for the repeat...simultanious posting

Thank you for your explanation.

No problem... In processional / announcement wedding world, being later is the more honored position. (Well, relatively speaking since both sets of parents are important!)
